Scappoose training day,8/15 *UPDATED*

WHO: Anyone who wants to play airsoft

WHAT: A day at Scappoose. First half of the day, PLA will break off and do some team training. Around lunch time we'll come back, have a big BBQ with whomever shows up, and then after lunch we'll skirmish until it gets dark or we get tired of shooting at each other.

WHERE: Scappoose field. Look in the EVENTS tab, under FIELDS and there are directions.

WHEN: Saturday, August 15th, 2009. I'd post a start time, but people just show up when they feel like it in airsoft. It's a skirmish. If your team wants to do their own training in the morning, show up when your "team captain" says so. PLA is starting at 9am

WHY: Because Super General McNair said so!

Less than a week until the grand PLA Training Day. There will be a cake, a dance-off, and an albino stripper named LaShonda St. Croix.
Actually, there will be training in individual and small team skills from 9am - noon, then a BBQ, and then either more training or a casual skirmish.

Here are some final notes for those attending:

Bring all the airsoft gear you need to train and to play. Boots, Water, A weapon, BBs and durable clothing. Don't worry about camouflage or matching. If you are looking to join PLA, or are already in PLA, try to wear a blue top/shirt. If you're not looking for anything more than a BBQ or the training, then go shazaam yourself and show up in whatever you fancy. =P

If you don't have BBs or an Airsoft gun, there will be weapons for rent, and bb's to purchase. I'm bringing a large tub of bb's and for $7 you get unlimited BBs for the day. Depending on who is loaning or renting the gun, it could be $5-10. I'll bring plenty of extra web gear. Also, if you have gear you want to sell, bring it. If you want to buy gear, bring cash.

I'm asking for a $5 donation for food. Gatorade, Burgers, Goat Meat and MREs will be provided. If you want other stuff, or want to bring stuff to share, make it a potluck. But still give me money, I'm buying an a$$ load of food, hehe.

I'm still looking for a few volunteers to run lanes. If you are a military or airsoft veteran, I need a few more people.

Show up before or at 9am. Training begins then. You might miss out if you come later on something neat o. It will be a round robin set up, with different lanes ran for different aspects of military training. Up to you, tho

If you are on Facebook, add PLA's group! http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/grou ... 1446815244

Directions to the field are in the forums, and on FB. Bring one, bring all. Gonna be a good day.

P.L.A. if you haven't spent that much time with us yet, you are STRONGLY ADVISED to come in character and show us what you've got. Prepare a short introduction and a demonstration of your skills. Bring music if it will strengthen your performance.

If you are 16 years and under, please wear briefs not boxers hahahaha!

Damn, I just committed to running with some apes that day. I'll be like Jane Goodall & study their habits so that I can educate the rest of you.

No, we've been talking about this event for a long time on other boards and locations, but I didn't realize their OP was the same day. :(

And don't worry, I can update you on all the training later. SOTA will make a good game, so I suggest you go if you're in the mood for some trigger time.

A few utter noob questions, this possibly being my first foray into big airsoft battles...

What kind of gear should I bring? Well, other than guns, eye protection, and many pockets to hold mags that I will empty with great alacrity?

Should I buy full camo, or rock out with whatever I deem suitable?

Is biodegradable ammo required?

And, is it required that I bring a team of cannon fodder with me? Or is it alright if I just bring my dumb self?

Sounds like it would be fun, and I will (probably) be able to attend this! :D

This isn't a big airsoft battle. This is a get together. If you want an airsoft battle, I'd recommend the game at ABT that day.

But bring whatever you feel the need to. Bio is suggested but my understanding is it's not required.

Well, semi-organized event, bunch 'o' folks with guns, whatever. I could use some training and some BBQ :)

+1

It's a get together, but it's for fun. It's what airsoft is. The first half of the day we'll be going aside (not on the field so people there can use it to just skirmish when we're doing our thing) and just going over some basic game-play of airsoft, modeled after US Army doctrine as far as shooting weapons, reloading, gear, moving in buddy teams, reacting to fire, flanking, setting up and reacting to ambushes, moving in a 3-5 person fire team, and hopefully up to moving in a 9 person squad.

After that, we'll have a BBQ and roast some creatures and regroup.

When we're good and ready, we'll go skirmish a bit on the scappoose field in some good old fashioned shooting-at-each-other.

You can come by yourself, with some people, whomever. If there aren't people skirmishing (or if you want to) you can tag along with the PLA training in the morning.

We don't really have camouflage rules for the group yet, so it's going to be a hodgepodge of types and levels of kit. We have a range of people from ex military to never picked up a firearm in their lives.

I suggest you bring at least a few liters of water, enough bb's and batteries for your weapon, and I'd say enough to skirmish with (minimum of 1 hicap/3 mid caps/5 standards/ or 7 real caps)

eyepro is required. ANSI rating, just like every other airsoft game. I am wearing shooting glasses.

UPDATE: We're going to change it to Sunday, August 16th to not get in the way of SOTA's game. Posting two OPs on the same day is rude. :-\
