echo 1 vs dboys scar

Postby Teleavenger » Sun Dec 27, 2009 9:10 pm

hey all,

so im getting a new gun, and i have managed to narrow it down to two guns. the echo 1 asc and the dboys scar. they both look great, the echo 1 is only slightly more expensive, so they are both in my price range. suggestions of which one? pros vs cons?

thanks!

For all intents and purposes, they're the exact same thing. Echo takes one sidelong glance at it, slaps an extra 10-20 bucks on the price tag, and sends it out the door.

I have never owned an Echo 1 but I own 2 D-boys and have had good luck with both. I also try to take care of my gear but I also use my gear hard. I know that sounds like a contradiction but that is me.

I would say that if you are still in the market and do not need a new gun right away I would look around and save some more money for a CA or G&P. If this is not an option then I would get the gun that you like the look and feel of the best. I am pretty sure that there is not much difference between the to manufactures.

Now if the only two options you are willing to go with are the Echo and the D-Boys I would go D-boys.
Hope this helps answer you question.

I have a dboys Scar, but it has no trades (newer version).
The gearbox sounds really smooth already w/o any upgrades, it is still a pretty heavy gun to me (around 7 Lbs). It has aluminum top reciever, and you only have to open up the cheek support piece on the stock to drop in the battery (on the newer version).
The only weak point is the pistol grip, due to its cheap plastic material which makes the gun a little inbalance, so I replaced it with a G&P pistol grip instead.
It also has much better wire sealing on the newer version.

Pretty much you pay 20 extra dollars for echo 1's own trades. My friend has a echo 1 that he paid 220 for, and I haven't told him he could of saved 30 dollars by just buying a Dboy SCAR. But I can say the Echo 1 has around 400-410 FPS and it had some nice weight to it. I really loved the full metal, because moving the cocking lever to reveal the hop-up sound extremely nice. And when it pulls pack and hits the body, sounds like a dream too. My friend put a 9.6v into his Echo 1 SCAR and it had some awesome rate of fire. I'd say go for the dboys, its all this but 20-30 dollars cheaper.

Just get the Dboys, for the small things that Echo 1 does to their guns it's just not worth the extra money.

I would buy the Dboy, saves $25 and also no ugly e1 trades.

Believe me when I say this, Echo1 doesnt have the money or the sheer number of people to open every single box thats circulating through their warehouses and do QC. I have heard they do test fire their guns, but that is it. There's thousands of Dboy guns going through that warehouse, and that's just one company. Not to mention the 10s of thousands of JGs and other guns like, KS, CYMA, Galaxy and others.

I like my Echo 1 Scar-L no real problems other then i had to shave the sharp edges of the Rails. The DBoys I have no problems either from the time I used friends so both are good guns. Its more of personal choice of name and on hand Cash.

Echo-1 just rebranded the D-Boys and added a 30 day warranty. Its not worth it. And they added their own trades which are obliviously ugly. Save yourself the cash and get the D-Boys and invest the rest into something better.
