Levers, selector switches, retractable stocks, etc- basically anything that moves. All this stuff gets gummy and dirty and starts rubbing, and that's where the silicon is handy. Down the barrel and then swabbed out, really keeps things good and accuracy up when concerning BBs.

The issue that comes to mind is not so much the lubricating qualities, but the long term effects on the materials applied to. Mostly petroleum based greases on plastics. I believe that is why the silicone greases are recommended, that and the comparability with electronics

I dont think this stuff has petroleum. It says metal to metal so i think it should work for putting on the cylinder for when i pull the bolt back so it doesnt rub. Would i use this for in the barrel aswell or get a oil?

The lower viscosity in the barrel the better. In RS I have seen grease used for storage and then forgotten about. When fired WOW amazing recoil! The point being lighter viscosity (silicone ) will impede the BB less, less back pressure, higher fps. (recoil/ruptured barrel not the issue with AS). It does not hurt to run a dry swab through the barrel before use, in case critters have taken up house keeping in there too. Avoid some of the aforementioned stuff (Phil waterproof oil) with AS. It is awesome stuff for its intended purpose (bike chains/etc) Stick with stuff recommended by the manufacturer.

On arniesairsoft it was speculated the FinishLine lubes work well for AEGs. It is a grease used for bike chains and was originally tested on VSR's until the glue on laylax parts started to rot. But reports have been good for AEG use and increases in ROF have been observed.
