I've had a cop come and join a game I was in, but I've yet to have an encounter with them like those above...

Kind of reminds me of another hilarious story - sometimes we don't even realize what we're doing. At least, some of us anyway. I think I was in Raddue's truck with Andrew child in the back and we were getting some Taco Bell, Andrew found his Maruzen shotgun sitting back there, tried to rack it but it jammed. So Rick says "GIVE ME THAT!" He grabs it, clears the jam, racks it...THEN he realizes he's in Taco Bell drivethru sitting in the driver's seat with a shotgun. As reality sinks in, he rushes to throw it in the back seat, just seconds before the drivethru guy turns to the window to hand us our food. Good times.

I've never had a problem yet with Airsoft. But I did get the pleasure of being asked to get off an Airplane, along with the rest of my Paintball team and escorted to the tarmac when they were offloading all of our equipment. Where they then made us open all of our packed cases for inspection right there under the plane with everyone else boarded, waiting and watching. I never did figure out if they were looking for bombs or firearms. LOL But after they went through all of our junk they escorted us back on to the plane and off we went.

Here in Brazil, our guns and our gun´s documents must be inspected by Federal Police in the airports.
In some places the Feds just take a look an say; "Oh Well, it´s a toy, carry on!"
In others, because airsoft is recent, they get amazed with the fact that we are carrying such accurate replicas of their weapons or even doubt that they´re not firearms.

In one case, a friend of mine was coming to my town with his equipment and the cop responsible for the inspection made him walk all the way across the airport carrying his AK-47 in plain sight, just to show it to some buddy of his.

In another ocasion the cops started playing with another friend´s guns...

It´s bloody embarassing...

As lame as it is, the only time I remember having cops come at me and my bro was a couple years ago when we were playing with WOOD guns. Eric was in a cammo jacket on our garage roof partially covered by a tree and I was standing in our backyard. Then these like two cop cars show up and the we walk down to our driveway and put the toys on the ground, we hear the one cop say something about an old lady saying we had guns, the one cop laughs and tells us to "be careful" and they go on their way. It was funny.

My family lives on Burnside in Portland so cars are going by ALL the time. But usually when we were younger and we'd play we didn't much care, and people didn't either. Best time ever though was when we had little plastic colored pistols and we were having a little skirmish with some friends, and I'm standing next to our front yard right on Burnside street with cars going by, hiding behind a shrubbery, the light at the intersection turns red, and this police car pulls up and is stops across from me. He rolls down his window, I look at him, he looks at me then points around the corner from where I'm waiting and mouths something like, "He's right there." I turn the corner and take my friend out. The cop laughs and rolls up his window.

No troubles with airsoft in general though and I shoot my replicas in our backyard.

I personally have never had the cops called on me while playing airsoft, but I thought I would pass along this story as a reminder of why to use airsoft guns responsibly.

Back in December 4 high school students pulled up next to my wife at a stoplight. One of them thought it would be funny to point a glock at her. Now one thing about my wife and women in generally, never threaten them when their kids are in the car. The get very territorial.

No my wife being as smart and well trained as she is got their plate number and called the police. All four of them were pulled out of class by SWAT at the high school 1 block away. All four were arrested and subsequently expelled from school.

Four starters on the soccer team who were all seniors, about to graduate and had college scholarships and plans lined up. Now they can't graduate, they have to pursue GED's and my guess is they lost their scholarships.

Turns out the Glock was an airsoft gun.

I never had the police called on me back in my back yard days. I did have one neighbor that was a total tool and asked us to stop. Most of my other neighbors didn't mind and some of them even watched us.

We also kept all our orange tips on back then.

Good job to any of you calling the police ahead of time if you're going to do a skirmish, backyard thing, etc. Keep in mind, dispatchers really do not know laws & ordinances, so don't take their word as gold. Make sure you talk to an officer or a supervisor to clarify what you are doing is within the laws of your area. Also, there are some cities in the Portland metro area that have city ordinances against discharging firearms (to include airsoft replicas, bb guns, etc). Although Oregon is an open carry state, yet again, some cities in the metro area have ordinances against open carry. My suggestion, out of sight, out of mind. If you're going to do a skirmish, put a big sign out that says something to the extent of "Airsoft Game" or whatever, just so people driving/walking by don't see a bunch of guys in camo with guns and think there's some sort of terrorist camp or militia being formed. With the recent increase of violent crimes against officers, a lot of cops will be on edge seeing people with guns...at a distance, they look real. Try not to be offended if the officer goes on the defensive and starts giving you commands. I have found orange tips painted on real guns before, so orange tips on airsoft guns, mean nothing to me.

This should go without saying, but use common sense guys. Don't create a bad name for airsoft. A lot of good people have been working hard over the last several years to get us some good exposure and it'll only take a few stupid people to ruin that good reputation.

Airsoft + Cops

Me and about 7 other guys were having a skirmish on on private property over the summer, and all of the sudden two cruisers come to a skidding halt in front of the house. Of course the guys and I all walk to the front of the house to see what the commotion is... First thing I see is an officer with his hand on his gun and my friend with his gun on the ground and hands in the air. I yelled back at the people coming out of the woods to "Leave the guns on the ground and come on out"... Anyways long story short we were allowed to keep playing, although they suggested we notify dispatch next time and *to one of my buddies* "Put the Goddamn orange tips back on!"

Lesson learned...
I talk too much.

Yeah me and my friends went to play and them being late didn't show up until about 15 minutes after we were going to start. Apparently someone driving by had seen one of them with his gun and decided to call the cops. Three squad cars came and two officers came out with M4s one of them was painted in woodland camo. They told me and my two friends to turn around and put our hands out, however one of my friends failed to hear the turn around part so he got told in a stern voice to turn around. After that we had a good joke saying that one of the cops was going to boost head shows with my friend who failed to turn around( Because in Call of Duty woodland camo takes only five head shots to get for those of you who don't play Call of Duty).
My main problem is the imbecils on their forum.

Back in my back yard warz days, me and my friends were playing on his patch of land, which had a road on top of a steep but short hill. Being as young as we were, we didnt think to call dispatch and inform them of what we were doing. We had been playing there for months with no problem. One day I was on top of the hill being a 1337 $n!p3r. I was getting shot at so I stood up and started running down the road towards cover. A car drove by, slowed down, then kept going. About 10 minutes later 2 squad cars showed up, guns drawn. I dropped my gun as soon as i saw they didnt look very happy(breaking my gun in the process). After taking off my mask, the cop realized who I was. He was my friends dad. Different friend. After calling us all crazy for being so close to a road and still playing, he told us to be careful with the cars driving by and they left.

It turned out the driver was a 65 year old farmer that lived down the road and said he just saw a bunch of people holding big guns.

Stupid old people.

I haven't had a personal encounter with cops, but a few dumba$$es from my school did. They decided that it would be fun to pull out airsoft guns and start shooting at each other in front of a donut shop, RIGHT IN FRONT OF A SCHOOL. We went into lock-down, and all of the participants were rounded up by SWAT (peacefully).

One of the teams I am a member uses a privately owned field for there games. The guy living next door, however, despises any and all forms of firearms, and continuously reminds us that if we even take a step on his property, he will call the police. Luckily, his property is kind of fenced off by fallen trees.

Seriously I look like the picture below and the old couple were concerned and I told the cops what I was doing and it was Airsoft and they told me next time i should get ready at the field not in my car by the street.
