2011 Calendar?

I'm getting a lot of inquiries about my plans to shoot another AP calendar for 2011. I'd like to get an idea of what the interest would be for a calendar next year - and what the subject matter should be. Yes, I am aware that it's only March, but these things take a LONG TIME to plan and shoot. So I may as well start now!

I am not married to any 1 idea - but this takes a significant investment in time and money so if I'm going to do it I want the consensus of the AP general public to help me decide which direction to go.

That said - there are general improvements that can be made after last year. Two of those would be a) a larger format and b) a heavier cover.

That said, I see three clear choices for next year.

1. Same thing. Girls and guns. Better models, better guns. And this year I'd like it to be less alternative, a little more traditional Americana. An already established product on it's second year has potential for better models, better locations, etc. Maybe even do fun stuff like vote on models here at AP.

2. Players or teams from our community featured. Bad a$$ gear, bad a$$ guns. Action photos like recruitment posters, etc. Snipers, people in swamps in chest deep water, gear-whore stuff. More than just your boring everyday event shot.

3. Just guns. "Tokyo Marui" style stills with awesome lighting of sexy AEGs, GBBs, rifles, whatever.

So vote it up, I'm all ears. This is basically here for feedback, suggestions, ideas, and to gauge interest. If there's not much interest out there - I won't bother doing it. Again, it takes a lot of time, so please be honest.

Side note: if you need a photography assistant, I'm more the willing... I may not be a professional, but I take direction well, and spent 6 months doing product photography for an industrial computer company.

and maybe shots of players as thay get hit showing the pain on there face

Guns and girls. I can't select just 12 AP action shots from any given year.

We can find guns and girls all over the internet.

I think action shots of the community would be a better choice.

What about both guns and girls AND action shots? Like have each month alternate.

It's possible. It seems like it might just piss off the other half of the people who wanted something different. Another option would be to use a tactical action shot as the main photo - and a hot girl posing with the same gun on the secondary photo. But that's twice as many photo shoots - ouch!

Guns and girls was my vote. And Matt, as you said, more Americana styled. I am thinking a pin-up girl style calendar, with guns. Similar to the look and style of the winner in this thread:

They can of course be modern guns and smokin' hot girls, but that look is kind of timeless. Just a thought, and my $.02.

Pictures of actual events. At the bottom right of the pic put the event name and maybe the people in the picture.
