Tells me that using Silicone spray in your inner barrel is a bad idea, instead you should be using Soap and hot water. Is this true?

Why? Every where I hear that silicon spray is what you want to use. Why else do they sell it in a spray form if it isn't for that?

You don't want to keep silicon in your barrel as it will affect accuracy. When your cleaning it though, its great.

Yeah I spray a paper towel strip with sprayed with silicon oil to clean it. I don't keep it lubed up with the stuff or anything. That is ok correct?

just take a tiny piece of cloth pre-rinse it with water/soap and wring it, put it on your cleaning rod and run it through gently and you should see the dirt come out... I hardly ever use silicone oil..

The goal is actually quite simple: have nothing left over in your barrel. Silicon residue will mess with your accuracy, as will dust from a paper towel. The best way to overcome the paper towel issue is to fire ~50 rounds after you get done cleaning, just to make sure that all of the dust is gone.

It is common knowledge.
