tactical boots

I am thinking about upgrading boots. I have a set of od/black jungle boots which I rarely use because it always rains in Oregon and some tan work boots I use when its wet. I am getting tired of having feet problem because work boots are heavy and hard to go prone in.

I am asking if anyone knows a place around Portland that sells cheap tan waterproof combat boots. It also helps if anyone knows any cool sites as well. I don't want anything fancy, just something tan and comfortable to run around with. They are boots and will be trashed anyways.

If you want something lighter than Danners, get some Merrells or Bellevilles. I have some Bellevilles, love em.

Those are some nice boots but I don't think I can afford them right. Maybe I will just save up and stick to my old boots for a while and grab a pair in the fall.

Danner. There's a reason I only buy from them when it comes to boots.

So if I were to go for quality boots, I can't get anything less than $100? Danner is tempting, why am I such a fool when it comes to spending money... Any other suggestion before I stop eating out and start dieting?

Cooking at home is much cheaper then eating out. ;)

Anyways, spend that extra bit on some quality boots. I have a cheap pair of boots and I fully regret paying 70 bucks for them.

Check out the danner factory store. They have seconds(missed stitching or something that you'll never notice) for around $100.

At the store, they were selling all their tan boots for $100. That was when I was there a few months ago, though.

I've never worn Danner, but I sure love my Bellevilles. When I come home after a long day of airsoft, my first thought has never been to take off my boots since I started wearing Belleville. Hell, I would probably just leave them on if I wouldn't track mud through the house. Last time I flew, I wore my Belleville 550 boots. Why? Because they're the most comfortable shoes I own. Better than sandals, better than hiking boots, better than running shoes, better than training shoes even. IMO, the 2 things you shouldn't skimp on in airsoft are 1; eye protection, and 2; footwear. Those two things can make or break your day (or life).
I'm a "fair weather" airsofter. I only play in the pouring rain, freezing cold, or broiling heat.

Tan boots are generally meant for the desert, and will lack waterproofing.

Waterproofing in general is not such a good thing. Sure, it keeps water out. But it also keeps water in. This can be a bad thing.

Boots are something you don't want to skimp on. You can do some serious damage to your ankles if you don't have good support during airsoft.

Bellevue, Danner, Bates, 5.11 are all good companies for boots. (there are others that I can't think of, and am to tired to look up.)

How do you figure that, when the new Army uniform in all climates have tan boots? My tan boots, as well as every other pair I've seen, has gore-tex waterproofing.

I had been searching for boots for the past 2 months that would fit my EMT needs. The majority of the tan boots I found were "desert" style and had minimal if any waterproofing.

I know they make them with gore-tex, however, I think that is the minority of tan boots.

I've been hearing mixed reactions to Converse boots. One review says they're the best boots ever made, they're extremely durable, they love them, yadda, yadda, yadda. Then the next review says they fell apart in the first 2 months, they're uncomfortable, they're shit, they're overpriced, and they wish they hadn't bought them. Your mileage may vary, I guess.

I've been looking at their 6" Side-Zip Desert Boot for some time, but I really wish I could get that style, in tan, with a composite toe. USCav has them for about $90 in tan with no safety toe, or in black for $90 with a safety toe. Its a trade-off.

As for the issue of waterproofing, I've always figured that if the boot isn't waterproof, just wear a moisture-wicking liner sock under your boot sock. But then, I do that even if the boot is waterproof. Just a thought.
