http://www.statesmanjournal.com/article ... -Silverton
If people are going to be stupid and ignorant can't they at least do it without involving airsoft?

This is what can happen when poor judgement is used on all parties.....cops included.
It is not unique. Last night after school, my son's friend was going to come over for a skirm. he carried his m-4 across the school parking lot, uncased and obviously without a clue. I "informed " him of his stupidity, and his reply was a shrug.
Think people! this kind of stuff is going to result in some negative legislation if we don't quit this kind of crap.

Silverton is a largely rural town with a cross dressing mayor (not ganna go there) however this was in the Salem Satesman urinal which is read by many people in the state legislature. We do not need the wacko's in Salem to pick this up as a cause. For what its worth, I live right between Salem and Silverton and used to work for one of the mentioned police agencies. I know how they operate.........."the best reaction is over-reaction" should be their motto. That being said lets all do the best we can to prevent outside elements from meddling with air-soft, because we are not going to like what will happen if we don't "police" it ourselves. end of tirade.......

Police officers were unable to find the suspects until witnesses told them that there were people with weapons at the end of the street.

I have so much trust for the Silverton PD.

Why did the police cite them for disorderly conduct, instead of citing them for shooting within city limits?

From what I've seen in my years, stupidity is blind to age.

I may only be 20 myself, but I've learned at least that much. Everyone has their dumb moments, but some are dumb alot more than others.

They were probably just too lazy.
The whole thing is pretty much everyone's fault. Those guys should not have been walking down the street with airsoft M4's. The cops, if they were going to charge them with something, probably shoudn't have given them a discon. The people shouldn't have freaked out just because they saw a gun. The reporter should not have referred to airsoft guns as "pellet guns" which sounds dangerous to the public.

Ok this article is ridiculously retarded. It sounds like something that came out of some magazine. They referred "airsoft guns" as "pellet guns" which is obvious propaganda. Think about it, airsoft sounds fuzzy and safe; while pellet gun sounds like it would kill someone or cause damage.

They also said the "red tips" were removed, I am not sure about what guns they were carrying but most airsoft guns we know have orange tips. Although some of them are redish orange it's more popular to call them orange tips.

Sorry noticed my error. :EDIT
I remove my orange tips too.. But that's when the warranty is over. Just got carried away and sort of a little brainwashed even though I knew orange tips can be removed. I keep reading people spouting nonsense about saying its required by law. Makes me programmed to type it out on accident.

and by importation laws airsoft guns aren't required to have orange tips

Air soft, paintball, bb guns, and other guns that use a gas or air pellet or mechanical spring action to fire a projectile are not subject to Department of Commerce regulations for toy or imitation firearms that require bright orange plugs or other markers to be affixed to the end of the barrel
