Seems to an issue.

The standard 1100mAh 8.4 volt battery that came with my gun, JG G36c, wont power it any more. I have a 3000mAh 7.2 volt hobby battery for my R/C stuff that seems to do fine with it. i have gotten in to the gearbox when the original piston broke and didnt exactly know my stuff when i replaced it and put the gears back in. I havent touched it in a couple months now and am getting it ready for college ( we have an airsoft club there and play as often as possible) so i took part the gearbox, greased everything back up with some stuff i use for R/C transmissions. i looked at the shims in there and played with them. with out the piston and spring in there is feels great, wish my R/C trannys felt that good. what could be the issue here?

i almost forgot. the 8.4 is putting out a decent 8.0 volts. The 7.2 has about 3-4 mins of R/C racing on it since the last peak charge at 4amps.

That 8.4 is low, most of mine go 9.6 or better on the volt meter, bad cell?

The 8.4 isnt peaked and has been sitting. The peak charger will not charge it thinking its peaked. bad cell is possible. physically is in 95+%. could a local hobby shop tell if there is a bad cell?

wish i had more then the 2 batteries to try.

check if the piston slides smoothly in the rails on the mech box walls. if it doesnt use a file to make the piston slide in them smoothly by filing out the gap between the rails on the side of the piston

i had to do that on a few pistons.. kinda annoying but ohwell dont get that piston next time. :D

I did that. they seem to move better then expected. the piston seems to move smooth, only has a 100 or so rounds through it so it will still have some break in to it? nothing catches the piston like there are any burrs in the piston or guides.

the motor was removed and cleaned with some R/C motor cleaner too. brushes removed and cleaned as well.

Maby try the motor with it out of the gun and make sure its functioning correctly.
If its fine, then you eather need to upgrade your battery, or you could get a high torque motor and still use you current battery but its probably your battery, specaily if its the stock battery most of them are nicads, and they need to be discharged fully when stored. batterys are cheap, Ull have more fun if you get a 9.6v too your rate of fire will signifcantly jump
And i noticed above and edited too

dang it. didnt want to tear in to the mechbox again. guess im gonna have to check that. might run down to the hobby shop this weekend if that doesnt work and build up a nice little 9.6.

try another battery. most of my 8.4v batteries show 9ish volts when fully charged. sounds like you have a bad cell.

i dont know much about the batteries other then basic cell matching, basic charging and that stuff.

is it common for a cell to just go bad?

Same thing happened to my JG 8.4 battery, if it's the same problem as mine, one of the connecters between the cells got dirt in it and came loose. You might have to take off the plastic wrapping around it and clean out the connector and re-solder it back on. Fixed the battery right up.

that or just pick up a new battery. they are cheap these days.

usually batteries don't just go bad, but it does happen. with yours showing 8v at full charge, that sounds about right. each cell is 1.2v, so being short one would put you at about 8v. just pick up another battery, they aren't that expensive anymore.

Actually, The 8.4v Battery should be showing a 10.8v at top voltage when charged, and 8.4 volts at lowest.

Yeah, when you Charge a Battery it should read around 10.8v when at peak charge.
