Blow Back AEG's

Postby Squirrely » Thu Aug 26, 2010 8:06 pm

Hi everyone,

I'll be getting an AEG soon (my first) and am looking for information on blow back AEG's. The one I'm looking at specifically is the "Classic Army M15A4 Tactical Carbine Advanced Blow Back."

Classic Army seems to have a good reputation but the blow back apparently (?) is a newer feature from what I understand.

So what do you think about blow back in general, and/or Classic Army blow back in particular? Does it improve your airsofting or is it just something else to go wrong? I'm thinking KISS here... and if you use an AEG with blow back, does it run your battery down too much to use it for very long?

Thanks in advance for your help! ;)

blowback is neat, but totally unnecessary. i go by the KISS philosophy and usually don't bother with it. the CA LWRC guns do have a pretty decent blowback, but personally i avoid it altogether.

I have the standard Classic Army M15A4 Blowback, and I gotta say, it is the best AEG I've ever had and my personal favorite among any other AEG I've ever used. It kicks the crap outta all my previous ones (mostly because one is the CA AUG A2, which people who know it decently know what I'm talking bout, and the other was an ICS AK, which just kept giving me problems and I personally didn't like it).

All in all, I love my CA blowback, and it's not gonna be retired for a long time.
Please, I insist.

Besides sounding different than a regular AEG, EBB guns are just prone to breaking with proprietary parts. Also, you are going to want to keep down your ROF because that can be tough on EBB airsoft guns. :(

And since the CA is a piston driven EBB aeg, it will probably suck up battery slightly faster (but not by a huge amount).

But if you really like it, go for it. I heard some good things about CA's EBB series. ;)

I am enjoying mine right now I have the CA LWRC M6A2. I also have 2 ICS m4s and a King Arms m4. They all make me happy but the blowback adds just a little more realism. There is a little more felt recoil and it sounds less like a piece of electrical equipment. So far 1, 11.1v 1100mah lipo lasts me 2-4 hours depending on the intensity of engagements.

This. Also, it means that you're spending a good deal more money for what is essentially a gimmick. In reality you don't feel it much, it really just makes the gun a wee bit louder. It's not like it's gas blowback; it's just kinda neat. However, it makes it more prone to breaking, harder to find parts for and more expensive. If the gimmick is that cool to you, go ahead, but think of ze moneys.

I use the TM sop mod and the g36k. They are fun. More expensive as has been noted. But I do highly recommend the TMs.

I have a EBB M4. It's kinda' cool. It's definitely just a gimmick though. If that's what you want, and you have the money, go for it.

Otherwise, save your money for something useful.

Airsoft is airsoft, I don't see blowback is necessary. I rather have a good old skool AEG, and go shoot RS for the blowback :)
