For an AEG a scope is fairly pointless, since for these events you won't be going over 400 FPS. I'd say if you want a full length m14 either run the iron sights, or get the AGM, as far as the interwebs can tell me(I did an amount of research on low budget M14s before selecting my M4) the internal qualities are fairly the same, and the agm comes with the scope mount and an extra mag for cheaper, you can get it at evike. The only major difference is a slightly different(not worse or better, just different) scope mount, and no bipod rail, although you can get a bipod mount.

I'd like to point out before all the trolls say don't order evike, that it's an airsoft website like anyone else, they make mistakes like everyone else, but there's a high chance they won't.

For optics, if you really want them, one of the various 3-9X scopes will do fine, the 3X for fighting and the higher magnifications for looking really hard at things. otherwise I'd say get a red dot, one of the aimpoints with the 2x screw-on attachment would work nicely.

to be fair I did say fairly pointless. I once effectively ran a scope on an all-plastic big5 m4. I simply ment that their could be better options, and it can also depend on his style of play.

Here is my idea;

Like many new players you might have the idea of being a sharpshooter in your head due to films and other kind of war media you have been exposed to. M14s are cool, don't get me wrong, but you could just buy and M16 and you would have the SAME effect that an M14 has on the field (airsoft, of course.) Many new players admittedly play any Clall of Duty or Battle Field Bad Company game and they realise how "cool" it is to snipe in that game. Well in case you don't have any experience doing absolutely nothing and getting killed a lot in a game (which is most likely going to happen to you, as you will move around too much) don't get one. Otherwise feel free to get a Bolt.

What I am trying to say is that you're better off grabbing a Classic Army M16A4 and a few mids and calling it good. As to the whole scope thing; optics can help you if you have bad eyesight, and they are cheap solutions as opposed to prescription ballistic lenses. Do it if you want, but you don't have to get a more than 4x zoom. Good luck with your aisoft adventures, I hope this was of some help.

Actually, i have been playing for about a year now. I usually play CQB with my modded Dboys SCAR. I am by no means a new player, and me getting an M14 is not based off of COD or a movie, my dad served in the military, one of his duty weapons was an M14, i have shot the actual gun, i like the feel of the gun. I am not getting one cuz i wanna be a cool sniper, i want one so i dont always have to use the same gun doing the same things

I renamed your thread since you don't seem interested in which brand of M14 is the best (it's G&G, by the way) and more about if the CYMA M14 is any good.

The CYMA isn't bad. The G&G and CA versions are notably better performing with stock parts and require less aftermarket lovin' to get to the same level of accuracy, but the CYMA isn't a piece of crap.

As for a scope, get one if you want it. As long as you're not putting a scope on an MP5 or something that wouldn't reasonably have a scope on it in real life, no one is going to give you shit for it.

My friend has the CYMA socom M14 (I'd really recommend that over the regular one), and it seems to perform fairly well with .25's. It has a range of about 150-200ft or so, decent accuracy(should usually be able to hit a man-sized target within effective range), has a rate of fire of about 14bps(give or take a few), and the fps is around 375. As for a scope, the NC Star 3-9x40 is an excellent option, I use it for my bolt action platform and It's an outstanding scope for the price.

I wouldn't worry about external upgrades for now(except for the scope mount), it looks fine as is. Internally -- possibly a new hop up and 6.01 tightbore barrel would be enough for a while unless you want to increase the FPS. If so, then you might as well get a whole new gear box.

You might wanna check to see what's compatible.
