Postby mossy » Thu Sep 02, 2010 11:47 pm

Hey guys, I was just wondering what M249 to get... I'm willing to spend a $400 give or take...

-Thanks

P.S. I'm getting a sidearm and secondary AEG too.

I would save your money and get a CA M249 MkII. IMO CA makes the best M249.

The CA is pretty Nice, But Echo1 versions and A&K's aren't too bad.

A&K did a poor job at cloning the PGC (CA) style gear box. Most people I know that bought an A&K or E1 M249 who end up using it as their primary end up replacing quite a few internal parts or just buy a CA gearbox. Also the A&K E1 ones have quite a bit more plastic parts on them.

Well, I've meant to ask, but didn't care enough. How are G&Ps? I know they use V2 gearboxes, which some consider a downer, but still?

Agree, we have 2 CA mk 2, 249's. great guns and the fixed stock allows the usage of large batteries. We have 5000 mah batteries and have never run them down during a game. The weak point is the box mags. Little debris like to jam them. You need to be pretty careful to keep foreign stuff out of the mag. By the way, these dawgs are heavy, it can be pretty tiring packing one around. You will notice that the military likes people of big stature on these things...theres a practical reason for that.

CA M249s. We have 2 MKII's and Para and they rock! Go with the smaller "nutsack" style mags. I have both the CA and Mag Brands. The CA auto winds as you fire, but only holds 1200 rounds. The Mag brand has a pressure switch you hold while you fire to keep it feeding, but it holds 2500 rounds.

Used correctly the SAW can turn a lose into a win with suppression. We've been outnumbered on a few occasions and used the SAW to seize the initiative.

I'll second DJ on the wieght issue. Start doing pushups now if you plan on carrying a SAW around all day.

they are tough to lug around, but the military also has up to 30 lbs of ammo to lug around with it. i think most m249s are roughly 20 lbs, so you will want a good and comfortable sling for it.

Not too bad to find really. Check AEX, ASONW etc......the last one we got on sale for $300 at AEX. Just keep an eye out for em.

I got my CA 249 MKII from AirsoftOutletNW. They had to order it because they did not have it in stock. Came with the box mag.
