Does modify make good bushings?

Postby CCCman » Fri Sep 03, 2010 9:00 pm

OK so I have a g&g combat machine non blowback. I heard the bushings aren't good so i will buy some new ones. Is the bushing a 7mm or 8mm? If it is 8mm, are these bushings good?

They replaced those brass bushings a few years back. They have 8mm ball bearings now and are pretty good. They also have a few improvements that that review didn't mention.

Really? sweet! are the bearings strong enough to take an m110 though?

My G&G SCAR shot 360-370 FPS stock with a M100 and a M110 may put you a little over 400 FPS. I would consider leaving it in its stock configuration for at least one airsoft outing to gauge what improvements are needed if any are needed at all.

8mm bearings are more than sufficient for an M110. The only bearings that have trouble taking added stress are 6mm bushings. 7mm can take it, and 8mm and 9mm bearing bushings are almost overkill. Bearings become much more efficient and effective the larger the ball they take.

First thing you should do is check what material your stock bushings are made of. Just take the upper receiver off and you should be able to peer around the gearbox and see if they are brass or not. If they're brass, yeah, replace them. If not, just stick with it. Periodically check up on your parts and catch any failures before they happen.

My AGM M16's stock bushings were brass, and I got a deformed bushing at around 50,000 rounds. Started deforming the axle hole. Replaced the whole gearbox with a nice G&G 8mm bearing gearbox and it runs beautifully.

Removing the gears reveals the bushings.

They are made from cheap powdered brass, and can wear down (or in some cases, shatter) very easily. I would definitely replace them. In this particular model (X4-A1) it uses 8mm size bushings. After only a few hundred rounds they are already starting to wear down. Like I said before, I would definitely replace them.
I’ve had 2 G&G guns both came with Brass bushings. I upgraded those guns to the point of if anything would have failed, failed. Not once did I notice any of the brass bushings “shattering or deforming. I’ll be they were the 6mm type, but that doesn’t mean the brass used was any different.

Just some numbers to back you on that statment.
"6mm Bearings 35.27 lbs
7mm Bearings 52.91 lbs
8mm Bearings 94.79 lbs
9mm bearings 136.88 lbs"

Quoted from "BigEd" off Airsoft Barracks and Airsoft Retreat.
It could be completely untrue, and whether he tested these himself or found it somewhere himself I don't know. Whether this is for bearings or solid bushings, I don't know.
