Stephanovich! greetings from Salem. When you use steel wool, to get that damned rust use as fine as you can get, 0000.
I use a gun wipe cloth called tuf cloth , It is coated with CLP and it does a pretty good job of protecting the guns surfaces. I try to use it every time the gun gets used. Sweat is as bad or worse as a source of rust. I have used many type of gun cloths, This is the one I like best. Just throw one in your gun bag, then its always there. If you have any trouble finding them let me know, I'm going to order some more from Brownells.
