KWA M4 Really low compression...

Postby malik » Wed Sep 29, 2010 5:50 pm

I received my KWA M4 1st Gen... Problem is, the thing shoots MAYBE 20 ft then drops. Help...?

Note: Has a 2 piece... I'm thinking about swapping out my G&G GB with the KWA? Possible and good idea?

We want 'em to know if they're gonna leave a bomb on the side of the road, first, we're just gonna blow up their little f**kin road.

Sounds like hop up not compression. You'll need to take the two halves of the receiver apart, pull the barrel and hop up assembly and barrel out. Then turn on the hop up and look down the barrel. If you can see a piece of rubber sticking down into the barrel where the BB first enters then something else is the problem.

G&G gearbox in the KWA or the KWA gearbox in the G&G?

The latter is most likely to work, KWA's receivers don't like 3rd party gearboxes.

I think it may be that there's still water between the bucking and the plastic hop-up... I'm going to keep shooting and see if it gets at all better... I mean, it feeds great.

KWA GB->G&G Body...

Won't matter, its a hop up issue. You don't need to swap the gearboxes.

Why is there water between the bucking and the hop up?

That should work if it comes down to it, but don't toast me if I'm wrong. :D

And water around the bucking would probably throw it off. (it could also be excess silicon oil from the previous owner)

Hehe... I "might" have used water as my "lubricant" since I can't find any 100% silicone spray/grease locally... Just to get the bucking in the hop-up, nothing else I promise.

Throw it off accuracy or throw it off range?

He asked if it was possible, I answered.

So I guess my first question is why did you take apart the hop up? And second is did you forget the hop up nub because that's exactly what sounds like is wrong. I have an E1 mp5k that was only getting 30' and I checked the hop and alas there was no nub, threw in a nub and I'm getting 135'

Probably both, depending where it is is the hop-up chamber.

+ what merchant said.

I took apart the hop-up because when I received it the hop-up was cracked and the barrel shoved to the point where I could see it from the feeding tube in the mag holder.. Forgot the name-
I think you may be right, although before I disassemble AGAIN, it only seems to have a 150fps or lower when it does shoot. And I just tried it again and it was probably double my first attempt.. as in, 75fps->150fps. Guessing from the look of how fast it moves..

Wait wait the hop up is cracked? You may be loosing pressure through the crack in the hop up unit depending upon where the crack is and how big it is. But that is just a guess. For some reason I am hesitant to say the gearbox has bad compression because don't KWA's normally shoot 400 or so out of the box?

I replaced the upper with a crappy JG piece.. The gearbox sounds great and when I take it apart and fire with no barrel it looks like it's moving as fast or faster(harder) than my G&G... I am currently dissasemblung it again... Also, it IS a 1st gen so it's ~3+ years old... Using my G&G bucking, stock nub(looks deformed), and a KWA lower hop-up and JG upper.. Going to TRY the KWA cracked hop-up just for kicks...
