I am still strugling with my gun...G36...

Postby Sandol » Wed Sep 29, 2010 1:30 pm

I had a tread some time ago, and the gun has been fine until today. I have investegated the gearbox very close now and the problem is that the motor wont get power from the Fire Switch. I even opened the fire swithc and it looked pretty fine... I have done som short circuit tests thought, to see where i got power, and where i dont have it... I know that it could be damaging the battery, but i need to find the problem.

In the first test; I took the wiring away from the motor, desolder wasnt needed, just to slide them off. Then i wanted to see if i could get any sparkle if i had the battery plugged in and had the negative and the positive wires conected to each other, but no sign of any sparkle at all, and i did cilck the trigger ofcourse, but again, no BAM...

The second test, i did test if there was any life in the battery, so hillariously enogh i did the same test with that. A positive wire connected to a negative, and BAM!!! So the battery wasnt dead...

The last test was to directly connect two wires from the battery to the connectors on the motor and it ran very fast, and some insane sparkling =O. I tried to switch positions between them and it ran alittle more calm.
'

SO my conclusion is that the power probly want make its way throught the Fire Switch or a mechanical looking mosfet.

What do you think guys? Thanks for watching! :) :)
ANd sorry for very bad english, cos i still have some homework to do xDDDD

I think your trigger contacts are burned out. Take apart the trigger and with medium/fine grit sand paper, clean off the two separate prongs and the moving metal part. There shouldn't be much (if any) burn marks on them by the time you are done. If they are in really bad condition, you might just have to replace them.

What kind of battery are you running?

I'm not sure if that's the problem since I was having a hard time figuring out your tests, but it doesn't hurt to check.

Also could be a short somewhere along the wires, or a burnt out fuse? Or perhaps a locked up gearbox by accidently reassembling it just a smidgen wrong?

When you pull the trigger, is it a smooth pull or is it somewhat "gritty?"

the gun is an Umarex ares (H&K) G36C. The battery i used was a 8.4v, 1600 mah nimh battery.

The trigger is maybe some what gritty yes. I havent taken the trigger apart, and not the whole gearbox either. So non of the gears are messed up.

*face in palm* Sparkles are no bueno. Buy a multimeter, they're fun & inexpensive.

Simple stuff first, check your fuse. After that I'll put my money on a broken wire.

Good luck! :D

I feel a little bit stupid now, but after the test of the lipo, i tried with my nimh again, but i pressed the conectors very hard to each other and it worked, so i guess that a couple of deans would do it, and a rewiring at the triggermaster aswell. :D Wouldnt suprise if there is any more problems, but shit happens..
