m4/m16 midcaps...

Postby Sho Nuff » Mon Oct 11, 2010 9:54 am

I am having feeding issues with my midcap mags, just wondering which brand or type of midcaps are the best or highly recommended.

Except when they don't fit/feed into the gun.... but thanks for playing.

G&P metal mags seem to work in many different guns. Mag brand middies also seem to be pretty universal.

I had some mag M4 midcaps, after you break the spring in they're a good investment. But the mags were too short to feed in my G&G.

It can be a crap shoot. My KWA M16 and VFC 416 work great with S-Arms mids, but won't play nice with my MAG mags. My CA PMC X works great with the MAG mags, but won't have anything to do with the S-Arms mags.

So far, in my experience, mids can be a problem, but I've never had a high cap that didn't work in any AEG.

I once bought a $600 King Arms M4 that came with a Pmag midcap...that didn't even fit in the magwell of the AEG.

I'd get G&P metal midcaps. The only gun I've found they don't work with is KWAs.

the best bet would be to go to the Airsoftoutlet NW and bring your AEG to see what mags fit and feed best. They have most brands and types of mags.

+1

EDIT: Are they STAR p-mags?

They can be troublesome, I found that their springs are a bit weaker than my MAG brand ones, so they don't always feed well.

I second the opinions on the G&P "Adventure Line" Midcaps, they fit in my KWA M4 RIS with little play and feed till the last round.

the same goes for the MAG Magazines (After you break them in that is)

STAR tends to be pretty mixed in terms of performance. My H&K AR15 real caps sucked, but my MP5 ninety rounders fit better, were lighter and kept up with my gun better than the MAG designs. I had the Evike midcap package, which is crap. Half of them wouldn't feed, in the exact same gun. G&P 20 rounder hated the same gun after easily a thousand rounds loaded, but the thirty rounders were fine. That's Chinasoft quality control for you.

Quality varies hugely, and individual fit is different too. Just test in store and see what works. See what brands out of that mixed bag like your guns, try to find one they both like, buy a bunch, sell off the ones that don't work.
