Sling mount mod

Postby Falcon7 » Wed Oct 20, 2010 6:26 pm

I want to attach another sling mount to the front of my JG Sr25 body so I can use it with a two point sling. Is there some piece that wraps around the barrel I can buy and weld/glue on or is it more complicated than that?

Pics might help.
My M4 has a sling attachment that attaches to the gas block / front sight. It might not work with an SR25 though.

It looks like this:

I can measure the outer barrel diameter too if needed.

There are also RIS mounted sling mounts like this :

that one is out of stock, but you get the point. If you really trust your RIS, you could weave paracord through the loops and tie the sling to that, it could break your RIS though. Whats that thing on the bottom of your RIS? It looks like a mount.

No idea. I didn't actually have time to take a pic and upload it so I found one.

If the RIS is metal, which it should be on that model of rifle, I doubt it would break the RIS. Even pot metal should be able to hold that kind of load, and I don't think that the RIS is even pot metal, probably some low/mid grade aluminum.

If that is on your SR25, I'm fairly sure you could use it to mount a sling. If your sling won't go on it, you can weave a bit of bootlace or paracord through to give more room, and do a good job tying it.

I don't have anything like that on my gun right now, and I'm fairly certain that the RIS is made of aluminum. I think I will get a RIS sling mount and the Irene Adaptive Sling.

It's most likely pot metal-It's a JG.

Get a KAC type Push-Button Swivel and mount it on the RAS :)

I have one on my Defender and it works great. Goes well with an MS2 sling.

i feel saddened that no one caught that... that mount on the bottom of the picture is a weaver bipod mount, it's for a harris style bi-pod.
forgive my ignorance, it happens to everyone.
