Mods for M4

Postby Strikerz » Wed Oct 20, 2010 5:44 pm

I want a good cqb M4. I was planning on moding the exterior. I was thinking a Magpul PTS UBR stock with a PTS vertical grip. My question is what low budget reliable M4 AEG will be compatable with the UBR stock?

from what i know, most guns that take any kind of m4 stock will take other versions, could be wrong but iv had experience with a lot of m4 stocks and they all work.

Modding? This isn't a video game.

Most M4s, whether it be a clone or not, can take any stock made for an M4. I'm pretty sure some AEGs will take real steel parts, externally wise, as well. If you have an M4 you're set.

Baller! Magpul UBR stock on a low budget M4?! The cost on the Magpul UBR stock is almost the cost on getting a low budget M4. But hey whatever makes you happy go for it!!! Well you have Echo 1 M4, VFC E series (economical series), G&P, G&G... list goes on and on for AEGs on a budget. Since you mentioned CQB always keep in mind the FPS before you purchase that AEG.

Just be sure you're getting the "military" UBR, "civilian" UBRs won't fit on M4A1s as civilian buffer tubes have different dimensions.

Buy one of those ASGI G3 or G4 series, they have magpul stuff on them already :)

the ubr should go on nearly any front wired AEG. if you really want to dump the money on the UBR, go for it, it's sexy as hell. i'd say go with the combat machine M4A1 blow-back, then pick up the MRE kit for a CQB front end. UBR: $175, CM M4: $170, MRE: $70. $415 on GI. if no other codes are active when you order, "tim" is always active.
forgive my ignorance, it happens to everyone.

This would apply if it were a standard collapsible stock like the ACR, and would apply on real firearms. All the PTS models will fit almost all airsoft guns, and they're pretty close to Milspec.

However, the UBR does not slide over the buffer tube. It mounts on a 'Entry' type buffer tube, which is shorter than a rifle buffer, and certainly not a carbine stock tube. Each real UBR includes this tube.

In airsoft, the UBR just screws onto the back of the receiver like any other stock.

I would agree with both GacktC and Hallowground. Use the G&G GR16 Carbine Blowback for a base, since it's wired to the handguard, and then install the stock. Or, if you want to put the battery in the stock (which will only work with a small Lipo), get one of the Raider models.

Or, you could just buy one that has the part already installed.

My M4 variant looks nice and it's camo painted with a vert. grip, a TBB, Magpul front flip sights with an NcSTAR 1x25 red/green dot, and it looks damn good. I want to get a different stock though, regular crane is boring. Just do your own thing and see how it turns out.

Whoa now, no need to swear. I did not make any judgement towards you, generally the term "modding" or, a term which is also commonly joked about with on AP, "hack/hacks/hacker" has to do with video games. Hell, I didn't even look at your age until you mentioned "CoD" just now. You've done two things wrong now, with this latest post;

1. You've shown that you respond inappropriately to a troll comment.

2. You have shown that you think that I thought that you played CoD too much, and since you guessed that, without even stopping to think, you've obviously been playing too much CoD.

Don't make assumptions, don't be quick to anger, and never bring age into an argument when you yourself are the age being argued about. I made a joking comment and you automatically assumed I was referring to you playing video games too often. Modifications would have been a suitable word, perhaps accessories, or even alterations would have done nicely. The fact that you used that word when having to do with changing the external properties, especially when the accessory you intend to use costs about the same amount of money as your replica does gave me incentive to make a comment that I knew would cause you to change what word you had chosen.

Furthermore, if you're going to replicate war with a group of people who try very hard to be accurate you should EXPECT to be corrected and mocked for calling a "magazine" a "clip." Or a "charging handle" a "cocker." Or whatever other terms involving guns and/or gear you speak incorrectly. I cannot understand how you would try to get into the sport without knowing what a "mag" and a "clip" were, and I honestly hope you do.

Still, lighten up kid, just learn from your mistakes.
