If you can afford the VFC, go with that. But the Dboys is a good choice if your looking to save some money.

Exactly what I was thinking, since the Dboys version is nearly half the price of the Echo 1, and I no longer have a steady income, I'm trying to save money, Daddy doesn't buy me anything no more. ;)

I had to look that up, and it looks sweet; to bad the $740 price tag makes it completely sour.

WTF!? Its $740??
I guess the $740 is only the suggest retail price or estimated price, I would say no more than $500.

They don't say. I watched a video from the Japanese hobby show or something similar, and the price was 59,800JPY, or $740

Hopefully; wait, isn't this the first TM gun with a CNC'd body? At the least it LOOKS cnc'd

"Tokyo Marui is the latest AEG manufacturer that came out with a SCAR-L, but exploiting the use its patented recoil and blowback technology that no other airsoft manufacturer has come out with a competing technology, apart from the gas blowback from WE. The TM SCAR-L uses the same new generation M4 magazine and the auto-stop mechanism for its midcap magazine. Priced at JPY59,800 (US$734)."

I really wish they had skipped the blow back system...

I think the M4 & AK they produced last year were metal & CNC as well.
Probably will cost no less than 1k to buy those magazines & battery.
TM has the best of the best QC, so don't have to worry recieved a lemon for paying that price.
I believe only Systema makes the upgrade mechbox parts for those Blowback gearboxes.

I've had the echo-1 SCAR, and i never got the hop up right after buying a new bucking, and even taking it to AONW, so i sold it. for CQB i could see it doing well because you dont make very long range shots.

The TM SCAR looks like a legit 4th gen model which is cool. Hopefully the street price will be lower since thats getting into systema money territory...

It is pretty ballsy to make a new gun based on a system that isn't as popular as an AK or M4. Here's hoping that TM's gamble will pay off and we'll get other guns with their new system (blowback M14 or G3 AEG would be hawttttttt).

Also, G36ftw blowback is the new hawtness, so it doesn't really make sense to build a new gun that already has a pretty robust competition that doesn't bring anything new to the table.

Gacktc, Magicbox makes upgrade parts for the TM SOCOM (can be found on ehobby and redwolf IIRC), but a full tune up kit is around $250 which could buy a lot of hookers and blow.

Probably the only upgrade will be the spring & TB. Also the TM batteries & magazines :(
