Need a couple good COs

Postby Matt » Fri Nov 19, 2010 5:46 pm

I'm looking for a couple of COs to volunteer for the next installment of the OPERATION THUNDER STRIKE series. For those of you who missed the event last year, OP TS was an experiment in strict uniform requirements and a heightened quality of organization before and during the event. We appointed COs well before the game was even posted, and had every individual accounted for in a Platoon and Squad.

For next year's event, I don't plan on being a CO myself or even playing. I will be a full time admin and plotting evil ways to make your lives hell. It's more fun that way. So I need 2 volunteers to step up. As a CO you'll be part of the OP planning process from the beginning, and of course you'll attend the OP free of charge.

What I need from a CO
As the Commanding Officer, you will be in charge of all aspects of organizing your company. I would guesstimate you'll be in charge of 60-90 men (or women), roughly 2 maybe 3 platoons. You will designated your XO, your platoon leaders, and your squad leaders. You will work with these folks to assign everyone a platoon/squad. I cannot stress how important it is to delegate. You can also actively recruit teams or individuals to enlist for the OP and fight on your side.

If you are one of those people who says "Who cares, nobody will listen anyway, after that first bullet blah blah blah" - I DON'T WANT YOU. Don't volunteer for this.

However if you eat, sleep, breath and shit squad tactics and you understand how powerful it is when entire platoons of Airsoft players work together - this is the job for you.

Who Qualifies?
You don't have to be a military tactician with 20 years of experience to do this. It's not rocket science. But you should be respected in this community. If people will listen to you and follow you, then you'll do fine. Your most important skill should be LEADERSHIP. And leadership is NOT defined by screaming "MOVE MOVE GET UP THAT bleeding HILL!!" every 5 seconds. Leadership is knowing and understanding how your dudes can kill all of their dudes and conveying that in a way in which everyone else will agree with you and fall in line.

To respond
Drop me a PM. Let me know why this is interesting to you. Throw in any experience if it's applicable. If you're under 18 don't bother. (Go back and read the section about respect)

I was the one of the first commanders for Thunder Strike and had a blast. It can be very stressful, but very enjoyable.

PM sent.
Great leaders are almost always great simplifiers, who can cut through argument, debate and doubt, to offer a solution everybody can understand.

Will it be similar to the first one, with the camouflage restrictions being MARPAT and Multicam?

Yes. MARPAT vs MULTICAM like last time. However I'm considering enlisting a force of insurgents. But I don't want this side to be the "catch all" for dudes without uniforms, rather I'd like to see people actually in costume and look the part. This should be right up the alley for the OPFOR based teams.

Well on that note I recommend that your OPFOR group follows traditional OPFOR standard and wears solid OD. CAG's main uniform is the Fancy Shirt in blue, but our secondary is solid OD.

I am faux offended at the idea that all teenagers get no respect, and also at the insinuation that teenagers have absolutely no tactical sense ;)

I think it is entirely possible to run one side from a skype account and motion for Abe to run a side. I'll help as middle management to send him digital coffee as an assistant.
