Quality of King Arms Metal?

Postby CCCman » Mon Nov 22, 2010 8:49 pm

OK, so I was in need of a charging handle, a bolt catch, and a selector switch as well. So, i noticed that they were a bit pricey. I then saw a king arms set that comes with a everything i needed and then some. In the description it said it was made of zinc ally. Is zinc alloy strong? How well does sit stand against rust? I do like to rack my charging handle a lot so i need something sturdy.

Zinc alloy=pot metal.
I don't know about the King arms charging handle, but I have their selector switch, mag release, & they have great quality (above G&P).

In general king arms parts are pretty nice. I rack the charging handle on my king arms m4 occaisionally but not constantly. It hasn't broken nor does it feel like it's going to.

There are varying degrees of pot metal...

For the most part you want to avoid gearboxes, gearbox parts or other smaller moving parts on airsoft guns made out of pot metal (the selector switch gear on my E1 g36 just busted the other day because it was pot metal for instance).

Pot metal bodies are decent (My AGM's is still holding up strong) but they generally scratch and loose their finish easier than aluminum bodies. I have no personal experience with King Arms bodies so I can't tell you exactly how nice their bodies are (I just swung in to say not all pot metal is horrible)...

I can tell you that not everything King Arms makes externally is great. Their FN FA(i)L has a number of crap metal parts, such as the charging handle. That said, those parts are reasonably priced, and they look okay, and it wouldn't be hard to replace them later if they weren't.

No. And just so you know, I'd be extremely surprised if you found a charging handle that wasn't pot metal. G&P, KA, Madbull, ICS.. All pot metal.

Same shxt. Make sure it comes with the spring tho, if you don't have one.

I've never had a charging handle itself fail, only the springs get torn out.
KA should be good, though.
