As stated in at least one other thread, an AFG goes wherever the shooter finds it most comfortable. They can be very handy near the magwell if the shooter likes wrapping the magwell but wants something more comfortable for them. That's more what I meant to say. I HATE with a burning passion AK/M4 mags, and I may be wrong, but I don't think that's usually where an AFG goes, among other things...
And also, as far as trigger finger discipline and eye protection is concerned, I think John Moses Browning has a thing or two to say.
