Question about altering an AEG's effective range

Postby matteumayo » Sun Dec 12, 2010 5:22 pm

I have a KWA G36c, and right now it has a 310-320 fps spring in it (from the previous owner.)

If I pop the original KWA spring back in (~385 fps) would that affect the effective range at all?

I'm asking this because in the last game I played with it outdoors and had major trouble reaching people 80-110 feet away.

It also already has a 6.03 tbb, and the accuracy is laser-straight up until 80 feet or so on full charge.

Thanks,
-matt

60-70 feet is really bad range, especially for having a tightbore. Bumping up the FPS will let you use heavier bb's that will increase range... But even with .20g bb's that's pretty bad.

60ft is spring pistol range, it sounds like you have some compression issues.

I may have exaggerated with the 60ft range...

It might be closer to 100, it's difficult for me to picture it.

I thought the KWA G36cs already came with H-nubs?

Also, I was using .25s, probably didn't help the range for such a low fps.

first thing id do would be chrono it. once you know the velocity for sure, work from there.

with the standard .20s, or with the .25s you were mentioning using?

I run my 290fps M4 with .25s and it still gets 140+ feet of range.

A lot of times when working with the G36 type hop-up the nub will come out when the barrel and bucking are removed, make sure it is still there.

Secondly, make sure your barrel wasn't installed upside-down, I've managed to do that once or twice.

If neither of those two things are wrong, just try reinstalling the bucking and barrel; sometimes things just don't engage/set-up correctly when assembled.

EDIT: While checking those steps inspect your bucking, if it is torn or looks damaged you may need to replace it (G36 hop-ups are not kind to hop-up buckings).

Will do. Thanks everyone, I'll be back soon with results.

Hm well if the ROF's decient and youre going to use it for CQB then there isnt really a problem with it...although if it supposedly shoots at about 315fps then it isnt really possible for it to go less than at least about 80 feet so yeah i would definitely chrono it and see what that gives you.
