My new G&G GR-15 Raider

Postby RapleSyrup » Wed Dec 15, 2010 8:47 pm

I have had the gun for a while and am planning on getting a new spring. Its only going to be a small upgrade like a m120 (something for 400 fps) would this damage the internals at all? I dont know what i need.

You can get 400FPS with an SP110 spring. I'm getting ~440 FPS with a Modify M120 right now in one of my M4's. You wouldn't need to upgrade anything to drop in an SP110.

What do you need 400fps for?

All my guns run under 340fps and I never have any problems with people calling their hits

(ok, I lied; my sniper rifle shoots 460, bite me)

IMO, it's convenient for woodland skirmishes where shooting through thick brush is a must. The extra momentum usually gets the BB to the target despite some minor obstacles. If you're in an open area however, it's not really necessary. One of my team members runs a 250 FPS TM MP5 and it is not unusual for him to out-kill most of us.

@League: Are you using a 6.01 TBB or something? I could only pull out 398 from a Modify M120 (perfect compression). Care to reveal your secret?

Lower FPS = less stress on gearbox, higher rate of fire, and overall quieter operation of your gun. Paired with a good hop up bucking, you can get just as many kills as a 400fps gun. I had a 275fps CA SCAR that was silent past 30 feet, could hit 175' easily, and was insanely straight shooting.

I have a madbull m110 in my GR-16 carbine and it shoots fine; I'm getting 380 fps out of it right now.

I'm using a lonex tightbore which is only giving around a 5FPS gain... Along with a madbull blue bucking and lonex hopup chamber. By FAR the best combo I've ever used in any of my guns (which has been a lot...). Chrono results somewhat broken in:
