They do. Anti-reversal latches don't work without a spring. It should also be engaging your bevel gear.

It's not your typical spring it hugs the latch.

So I have to make this quick because I'm supposed to be working now, but I finally found the anti-reversal latch spring and got the gear timing right.

Closing up the gearbox is a lot harder than I thought, lots of trial and error going on there.

What's happening is when I get the gearbox finally closed and tight all around, the gears become imobile.

What I think is happening is maybe the anti-reversal latch is getting stuck somewhere or something...

Any way to fix this?

closing up a gearbox is probably the one thing i hate the most about working on aeg's.

what i do is i use a tiny flat head to hold the gears down with one hand and use the other to slowly place the other half of the gearbox on until the the gears are set in place so then you can pull the tiny screw driver out. this method is alot easier if you have an extra set of hands, so if possible call a friend over for some assistance.

also you can put everything in and make sure the anti reversal latch is set in the correct position and before you time the gears make sure that the bevel gear is locked tight on the latch so that when you put the other half on nothing moves cause its all nice and snug. usually works for me.

but like you said if all else fails, its alot of trial and error, just be ready to get extremely frustrated but dont lose hope youll eventually get it.

Thats fine, the sector gear is engaging the piston and the anti-reversal latch is doing it's job. Connet the motor cage and try it out (it should work).
