Single-Earmuff Headset?

Postby Raven-182 » Tue Jan 04, 2011 8:58 pm

Got some radios recently, and ive been looking around a bit for a quality single-earmuff headset that isnt going to bust my wallet. I plan on wearing a hat as well, so anything that you can suggest helps. My price range is around 80 dollars, give or take.

Bowman or Swimmer style headsets are pretty affordable.

To be honest, for airsoft, you can get an earbud from Frye's or some electronics shop and make it work.

When you say "single earmuff", do you mean that specific style only? Or do you mean any single-ear setup in general?

If you mean a true single earmuff style, the best overall is probably going to be the Comet model.

Right now Planet Headset is selling them for around $160, but those aren't something I would consider wearing for airsoft.

Now if you're talking about just any "generic" single-ear headset such as an earbud, those can be found all over the place for less than $20. I would recommend you check Midland's site for model numbers, then browse Ebay for someone selling the design you like for a good price.

Take a look at this one
http://www.airsoftoutletnw.com/index.ph ... &Itemid=28

You can wear a hat with it . It comes in different pin configurations for different brand radios.

I have one and it fills the need you describe. I had a Devgru swimmer style headset. Its communications capability was fine but It was a pain (literally, it made my ear sore) I wound up selling it to another AP member. I like the Bowman because it does not totally occlude the ear. When you are not receiving radio transmissions, you can hear what is going on around you with both ears.

Oh and Ninja Dan, thanks for the source, good stuff there!

The one DJ suggested is probably the best idea. I like how it has the large clipon PTT button.
