E1 AK vs CYMA AK

Postby TheFatGoose » Sun Jan 23, 2011 6:23 pm

Trolling through airsoft gi, I found A couple of cheap, fairly good quality AKs. My question is, why is the Echo 1 almost 50 bucks more, when it is really a rebranded CYMA? The externals are the same, I would just like to know why? Also, are the bushings in the CYMA AK line metal? The only reason I ask is because the reviews are of no help, it's mostly a bunch of kids who are very excited to have a new toy, and haven't properly thought through critiqueing it.

I would assume the Echo 1 is better; their guns are more solid, and their bushings and shims are usually matched correctly. I do, however, feel disappointed when I read the descriptions;

Description:
The Echo 1 Full Metal CPW is a unique, and possibly best AK variant available. There are two specific features that set this AK apart from its cousins. The 6 position LE stock and the top rail. Never before has an AK variant had an adjustable stock to accommodate different user preferences. The top rail on the CPW is not simply screwed into the flimsy receiver cover but mounted above it on it's own platform to provide a stable foundation for optics. The genius thing about this rail is the space provided in the middle so is not to block the iron sights. The hand guard rail system is ideal for the included vertical grip, or aftermarket lasers and lights. This AK is rock solid. It looks and does things other AKs cannot because this was made for Contractors, and they don't follow the rules, they make the rules!

I would assume that (a), ASGI is lazy beyond belief, or (b) they are indeed the same gun and they did this to point that out. Maybe somebody that owns both of them would be of more help, but out of the 4 reviews I watched (for each, got to be fair) the only difference I see is the included foregrip.

Haha I noticed thatbas well. I have heard many great things about CYMA guns, I was just questioning what I pay an extra 50 dollars for when I could spend it on magazines and other gear.

Also, I'm pretty sure CYMA entered the market making only AKs, so they should have the design down by now.

The same question has emerged from my brains! And I'm left forced to believe it's a quality or competency difference.
But I would go Real Sword! Even though that's probably not economically feasible, and it doesnt answer your Q, I have heard great things about D-Boys. I've molested and fired one as well, and it was much nicer than most AEG AKs I've seen.

I hope that helps if you are in the quest for a Kalash.

If your still deciding over the Echo 1 or the Cyma one of the main things you should be thinking about is are you going to change the internals. In the case that you are the best choice would be the Cyma. In the other case an Echo1 will perform fairly well but after 15,000rounds you will eventually end up needing repairs.

Thats all it really comes down to when talking about buying an Echo 1 gun. I wouldn't say at this point in the game that Echo 1 guns are better in any way then their Base gun that they are built from. It would just make sense that once the OEM has a good build they just pump that out for the whole line up. (as the case has shown with the JG/E1 guns) I think in this case you are looking at the OEM and the re brand of the same gun. So as Shadow said, If you're planning on voiding the warranty by cracking the gearbox then the warranty the Echo 1 offers is useless. So you're better off saving the cash and putting it to other gear.

I've used a number of CYMA AKs, and every failure in one I've had has been either my fault, or minor/cosmetic. That being said, that gun looks horrible.
