bushings

Postby civilizer » Sun Jan 30, 2011 4:18 pm

so i was reading about bushings and heard 6mm cannot handle the stresses of an m120 spring, if this is true is it possible to switch out 6mm for 7mm?
i would have thought no because the hole size in the gearbox or is this not relevant?

Think of it this way: You have a hole that is exactly the side of a golf ball. Can you put a baseball through that hole?

No you cannot.

But forgive me but I have to do say that with the proper tools you can fit that baseball through that golf ball sized hole.

Don't worry about bushings, the size comes into play when ball bearings are involved.

And get metal bushings if yours are plastic.

Never get advice from ASF. 90% of the people there are morons. Just buy 6mm bushings (not bearings) if you don't already have them. 7mm bushings don't fit in a 6mm gearbox. Don't EVER use superglue or loctite on the bushings.... Seriously? Where did you come up with that idea?

good thing i used blue then ill pull it out. so is it ok if the bushing spins when its in? none of my bushings would snap into place on one specific hole

however if bushings aren't supposed to move while shooting how would glueing them in place effect them?

How loose are they? Can you see gaps between the bushing and the gearbox shell when it's in?

no just loose enough to not snap in they dont hold their place and fall out easily. no significant gap though

I've used guns like that for several thousand rounds that were fine. The only time I had problems with that sort of thing was when I had element 6mm bearings... They fell apart.
