Postby Stray » Sun Feb 06, 2011 5:11 pm

TM or any clones. Real Sword should be able to take most realsteel after market (note: for a type 56, not necesarily an AK 47).

The G&G is not good for this, it uses a lot of proprietry parts.

Depending on how many parts you want to replace, you might want to save money on the gun to spend on the parts. If you plan on replacing only a few parts, get a nice, upper level stock AK, like a CA or Realsword. if you plan on replacing most or all the parts, up to or including the body, I'd say just get a cheap one, like a CM.028.

Also, what type of parts you plan on putting on will determine what kind of AK you should get. I've adapted real steel parts to my CYMA in the past, and they don't usually go on without a fight, so be prepared to do some filing or dremel work to get it right. If the parts you plan on getting say "TM compatible", get a TM clone, like CYMA, JG, CA, and so on. If you plan on getting parts that mount onto a real steel, get a clone that's based more on the real thing, like a Realsword T56, or a Dboys AKM; parts will be much easier to adapt.

I figured the easiest way to do is what I found. Some kit called skull AK47 kit. It's almost exactly what I would want to do. But would have to mod it quite a bit. I want a longer barrel with prop jamming rod a better pistol grip. longer heat shield. Boxie flash hider. Tight bore. different battery. Adjustable sights.

I'm not familiar with what you speak of, could you link me please?

AK-47 Length - 870 mm (Source)
AK-74 Length - 940 mm (Source)
AK-74M Length - 942 mm (Source)

In my experience, anything that'll work on an airsoft 47/M will work on a 74, assuming its TM style.

Also, that 'kit' is, IMO, an abomination. I mean like, when I see people with AKs like that I want to light them on fire.

I just want the fold to side stock. And not have fake wood grain with fake rails. I did some research, and the ak-74U is what I was thinking of. Also that box style flash hider and folding butstock are exactly what I am looking for. I was given a ak-47s (according to the box) with the underfold stock and the barrel seems just so sort for the size of the body. I really like the AK after toting this and want to start a real project on something that can be modified.

Here's the plan. It's real difficult, so pay attention.

First, you buy the DBoys AKS-74 (sold by them as the RK-03). It has a stock that folds to the side. The RK-03S version has real wood furniture and steel construction.

Then, if the barrel ain't long enough already for your tastes, put a PBS-1 or a PBS-4 suppressor on it. The PBS-1 looks cooler but is slightly incorrect (it is for the AKM, not the AK-74) while the PBS-4 is more accurate to the real steel but kind of has an odd look to it.

And there you go. Side-folding AK that doesn't look retarded with a long barrel.

Also, a note: AKs are not very long as far as guns go. Don't be surprised if you think they're shorter than they should be. (An AK-74M, the longest standard version, is still almost 7cm shorter than an M16)

*head asplode*

Forgive us, our sense of taste sometimes come out a little rough. Hope we got you the advice you needed to make your rifle how you want it to look, and good luck with your build.

I'd suggest a CM.028, since you plan on replacing all the parts that are bad on it (plastic body). Do you plan on using the FN style side folding stock in that kit or the Kalashnikov one that would come on the gun?

Also, AK thread is dominated by Fragistan lol.
