CA RIS Issues

Postby Limpy » Sat Feb 12, 2011 5:42 pm

So I bought this Classic Army RIS for my Classic Army M15A4. After numerous tries to fit the RIS onto the rifle, it doesn't seem as though the delta ring has enough room to fit that side of the RIS. I'm not sure if this is a common occurrence, but it did come with another delta ring. The only two options I can see are to either: 1. File the part of the RIS that goes into the delta ring down until it fits. Or; 2. Install the delta ring that came with the rails. Both of these are probably going to be tedious and painful, but I'd like to get some of your opinions as to what the best course of action would be to take in this instance. So, any ideas as to how I can make this work, or as to what I am doing wrong?

Thanks!

can you take a picture of i as far on as you can get it? there's a couple of different places they can bind up when you are trying to install them. also, did you make sure the little screw down clamp at the back top of the rail is loose and out of the way? i had one of those once that i messed with for an hour before i realized it was tightened up and was interfering with the delta ring.

also, switching the d-ring isn't that hard, the hardest part is usually getting the front sight off.

Airsoft GI just made a video on how to remove the front sight. With a CA it shouldn't be too hard, but I couldn't do it with my KWA without the fear of breaking something. But I would say it looks like you need to switch out the delta ring.

My flash hider has been impossible to take off. After hours of heating, then twisting as gently as I could without being too gentle, I just gave up. So I dunno.

Also, put on the top (3 sided) rail first, and then the bottom. I've found it's easier once you get the top one on.

Alright, great! Now to get this flash hider off... Would you recommend a blowdryer or something? Boiling water didn't work as well as I hoped it would.

Better yet; Beran, do you think you guys at AONW could do this for me? I'd much rather have people who know what they are doing remove something like a flash hider than end up breaking something in the process of doing it by myself. Thanks for the replies everyone!

For the flashhider did you check if there is an hex screw on the bottom? If there is, remove that and unscrewing flashhider should be fairly easy. If there isn't then I guess keep trying to get off with various heating methods. Maybe also use 3-in-1 oil to loosen it up.

yeah, get that top three sided rail on first and then the bottom one. i cant quite tell, but it looks like the locking bracket is on top of the delta ring. loosen the screw up on the top rear that holds that little claw looking thing in place, then slip the claw underneath the ring and try and seat the rail then tighten the claw back down again. if you want to see how well it fits beforehand you can try and just remove the locking claw and see how it works. honestly, that's what i would try first just to see if it works. if you can get it on without that, it will fit without the d-ring it came with.

jesse can try and get the flash hider off, but i would call first to make sure hes got the heat gun there.

If your having trouble heating the flash hider I just used a lighter and a wrench. Call it ghetto but it worked and it didn't damage the gun at all.
