Then you just dun goof.

I don't understand what the problem is. If you can't use PayPal, don't buy stuff. You can't force people to use forms of payment that are random in chance, unsafe, and not to their liking. If you're the one selling, you can do whatever you want, but you can't force people to not do PayPal and do something like mailing cash.

Cos', you know, that stuff is totally reliable.

If you don't like Paypal, use your Indian manservant and have him hike and hand the cash in person.

The thing about PayPal is, aside from transaction fees, it's free. Certainly there are some security drawbacks, but there are far worse security drawbacks with other services like PayPal. Just about every other transaction service is mostly used by scammers.

It's the quickest and easiest way for individuals to accept money via credit cards or bank accounts. We're not going to rebuild eBay here, I haven't got the time or the skills to do something on that level. So I really only see either people using PayPal or people accepting cash in person, those are really the only two options, with cash being the safest bet. Which option they choose is up to the seller, and you as the buyer can decide whether or not you want to buy the item using that payment method.

If you need other payment methods, shop at a store.

Very little hassle that the public sees. With things this large there is always a behind the scenes. I am more than happy with the change from forum posts to the classifieds as they are today. If more improvements are planned, great, but if they aren't, no skin off my nose.
She said I raped her? Well, where there is a Will there is a way. But just remember, if it wasn't Lil, it wasn't Wil.

Matt, we went through this on AR15.com and with a few dedicated moderators a feedback section is not that hard to manage.

AR15's system tracks offers. This differs from our system. So, essentially if an offer is stored, you can get feedback from the party who was actually involved in the transaction. We don't track offers. To be honest I'm looking at AR15's site and I'm seeing a lot of people with 0-0-0 feedback, the majority of the ads. I don't think it's really working that well for them.

It's not really as simple as just using the system they use either, because they're on an ASP.NET platform, we're PHP. There's a lot of great PHP solutions, even some that emulate eBay, but I'm not looking to reinvent the wheel. We want to host the information about what is for sale, not host the transactions themselves. AP doesn't want to be liable for your deals. We're not eBay. We don't have an army of lawyers.

Our market pretty much sucks right now. We're flooded with underpriced crap AEGs and China is undercutting everybody else. Back when there were 2 major AEG brands you could basically sell a well kept upgraded AEG for the same price you bought it for brand new. Knockoff gear was few and far between and wasn't worth buying in most cases. This is not true today. If you are having trouble selling your AEGs or your tactical gear, it may not be the classified ads system that's causing the problem.

I think we need some strict moderation, which our next system will allow, and some more features for sorting and finding what you want. We'll have a lot of new features, but at the moment I'm not sure feedback would be feasible. Our moderators can enforce the rules on using the forum and using the classifieds system, and if people can't follow the rules they will be excluded from using the classified ads system.

Admit to nothing, deny everything, demand proof, and make counter accusations.

Matt,

The reason you are seeing alot of 000 is that peoples feedback could not be transfered to the latest release. You can still see the old feedback system as a result of this. I have a 000 rating but have good feedback from the old system. That is the one I was actually referring to.

Anyway I am not really having any trouble with the classifieds just thought it would be a good topic of discussion and maybe generate some ideas.
