Good buffer tube LiPo?

Postby Icepick » Fri Feb 25, 2011 3:55 pm

Do you guys use buffer tube lipos? If so, what ones do you use and would you reccomend them? etc. I'm really looking for a 7.4v (probably the only ones that will fit in a buffer tube, huh?)

The Socom 7.4 sticks are actually not bad for buffer lipos, cuz they're round and short, but I think they're only like 13c or something.

I use Firefox 1100mah 11.1's currently. I'm a big fan of firefoxes.

I use an 11.1 1300mah lipo in my buffer tube. I got it form AONW. It uses deans which is probably one reason why its fits so well.

^ +1 You need deans in order for it to fit well in the buffer. Tamiya's don't work very well and require lots of cramming.

How much did that set you back price-wise? And it came standard with tamiya connectors right?

If you're going for cheap, 11.1 1100 mah firefoxes are only about 20 bucks each, so if you order like three and a charger it should only set you back about 75 bucks.

I'm really looking to go 7.4v though, I don't really like the crazy ROF in my replicas. Though I do have a 11.1v 1500 mah lipo in hand right now. How long, and high would you estimate the inside of a bufffer tube being? (Length, and diameter if you want to get fancy.)

This. Any 1100mah lipos are specifically made to fit in buffer tubes.

So would this battery fit in there? (Despite the fact it might be a piece of junk.)

A 11.1v Lipo with a low C count (12c-15c) will give you around 14-16 RPS.

That really depends on the quality of the Lipo, internals, motor, etc.

I put this misc. Matrix/Evike 11.1v 12c in my KWA G36 and the thing went nuts, about 20rps with a Systema 1j spring.

Wow, the AONW batteries are pretty good quality right? I'll have to ask about a buffer tube LiPo while I'm there.

So far i've had no bad experiences with that battery probably cause I USE A SMART CHARGER. seriously get a smart charger, oregon airsoft (10 minutes from AONW) has a really good one for like $70

Also it gives my G&P the highest ROF i've ever heard. Scared the shit outta me when i first used it.

Using a smart charger as opposed to a simple balancing wall charger for lipo's doesn't really make a difference.
