Cleaning rod substitute

I was wondering if you lost your cleaning rod, what can be used as a substitute for it without obviously damaging your gun.

I would probably go buy a replacement, but that is just me....

Anyway, just get another plastic one. Real steel ones will likely scuff up your barrel too much.

They come with every gun. So I'm guessing, given the amount of gear whores on here, someone would be willing to get you a replacement pretty easily.

And I use the gear whores term in the most "I want to have all the cool shit you have" way as possible.
