Do not use white lithium grease on buckings, it is the wrong type of lube for buckings!
Picture below shows the types of lube I keep around for installing Hop-up buckings. From right to left,
Silicone spray - This stuff is sold at all hardware stores and works great for cleaning barrels, but because it’s spray does not adhear very good making it so great for hop-up buckings.
100% Silicone Oil – This is somewhat hard to get, and most hardware stores don’t carry it. It’s a little thicker than the Silicone spray although not by much. I use it for lubing valve O-rings on gas guns and coating Teflon tape (AKA plumbers tape) because it does not have any additives and is 100% pure Silicone Oil.
Silicone vacuum grease –This stuff is great due to its high viscosity and good sealing and lubricating ability. I use this on all hop-up buckings and air nozzles. It’s available on ebay for around $30 with free shipping for a 5.3 oz tube. Also available in smaller amounts for around $10-$15.
Just apply a little bit. As you can see it’s very viscous.
And smear it around to coat. You should have a very thin layer.
