Looking to build a bolt

Postby Minerva » Thu Mar 10, 2011 11:31 pm

So I've noticed more and more as I play that I end up sitting in one spot or working my way all around the field and acting more like a sniper then a rifleman. I don't think I've ever used more then a midcap or two in a game either. I thought to myself, building a bolt would be a good fun project and it'd help improve my field craft

tl;dr I'm bored with my AEG and want to build a bolt

Now i really don't have a price limit seeing as I live at home and can dump my entire paycheck into it! :D

Base Gun: JG Bar-10 (Supposedly decent platform)

Upgrades: PDI 430mm 6.01mm TBB
Laylax damper cylinder head
Laylax spring guide
Laylax teflon cylinder
Zero Trigger (apparently comes with a high pressure piston)
And some barrel spacers, teflon mod, etc..

Any suggestions to this list? Please don't tell me not to snipe, I've played long enough to know that spraying all over with my AEG isn't for me. I want a rifle that I can shoot and have it be very consistent/accurate as hell. The parts aren't overboard to me as I don't think I'll ever need to replace them.

EDIT: Sidenote -> What gear should I use?? Not sure I need to use the wasatch I have to snipe..

the spring L96 rifles have proven to be a very cost effective bolt platforms. gun/scope/barrel/spring/spare mags will cost you around $300. figure out what ammo weight you want and dial it in to that, carry spare mags and a bag spare BBs in your pockets. id recommend a stalker suit, which is more or less just a ghillied camo jacket. you don't really need the whole suit, but some extra camo is a good way to offset your lack of firepower.

Can you point me to a TM compatible L96? The TM's seem to be out of stock everywhere and was going with a VSR-10 platform for conveniences sake.

I've seen that a lot of people upgrade UTG's with positive results. I don't know about their compatibility with TM though.

The VSR platform is very nice to have. Seeing that all the parts are compatible with any version Bar10/VSR-10/R700 model rifle you choose to get. Also the size comparison with an l96 is just awesome, I'd hate to lug around an unnecessarily sized l96 when I can carry a smaller and lighter bolt action. When I had my R700, it was awesome to carry around because it was very light and not too bulky, wish I never sold it.

Right now, I have for sale a vsr10 AND an L96. vsr10 upgrade ability, with the cool look of an L96, and for you, I will give a $10 discount.
The upgrades you would buy could make this gun pwnage and unique, and the upgrades you listed above would fit it. $70 shipped.

I think I'll believe that body when I see it. Also if they were actual TM parts, you wouldn't be selling them all for $70..

I have a JG bar10 totally upgraded, zero trig, TBB, the works. 550 fps. I don't like the zero trig. Spring broke, i had to replace it. Sometimes it sticks and the bolt won't catch. Really hard to work on. I'd look at noobies Mtrig if he is making them anymore. Actually anything else would be better. I might go back to stock trig. I don't like the VSR10 hop up. lots of levers, not the most consistent results. The external adjustability is nice, and the total platform is very light.

It has taken a lot of work but it can finally reach out to 300 feet with 0.4s. An interesting thing about snipers, they chrono with 0.2s for 550 but when you switch to heavier bbs they are in the barrel longer. My 0.4s come out with the same energy as a 0.2 at 600 fps. You have to watch your center of mass shots and engagement range.

I also have an L96 upgraded, 550 fps. I've had it at 700 fps before just to be retarded. I really like the hop mechanism, it is solid but a pain in the a$$ to adjust. Longer barrel. I use a stock trigger, if it ever breaks an entire new assembly is $20. Harder to get parts, I had to send away to Taiwan.

The TM L96 is an entirely new design and is not compatible with the APSII L96 platform. Sexy clip. Don't know how it is built. You have to be careful getting APSII parts to make sure they are not TM L96 specific.

I also have a UTG master sniper upgraded to 500 fps. It is a solid platform, overbuilt in many ways, APSII like cylinder, hefty trigger sears, but VSR10 like hop unit. Still, it is quiet, light and accurate (meaning consistent).

You need a pistol. My KWA 1911 ptp is great accuracy, out to 100 feet. I also have a KJW that can use CO2 when it is cold out. Not as accurate but it gets the job done. Serpa blackhawk holster is the only way to go.

If you want to shoot them at lightning i'll have them there.

I've worked extensively on both a TM L96 and UTG L96. Get the UTG and upgrade. The TM L96 has decent externals, the hopup adjustment is very convenient, internals aren't bad, but the loading mechanism leaves much to be desired. It takes the BB's from the "correct" mag placement and moves them forward about 5" towards the barrel - the exact same spot where the UTG barrel is. This not only presents more moving parts that can break, but it also makes dissasembly somewhat of a hassle. The TM L96 internals look like VSR-10 internals from what I could tell but I can't verify that since I had no comparison at the time. They are definitely not APS2 L96 internals.

The UTG comes with a sturdy, simple design with readily available upgrade parts. One of the snipers on my team runs with a highly upgraded UTG L96 and the performance is outstanding. I've seen him place shots on an elbow or shoulder behind a tree from 90 yards.
