M4 Outer Barrel Replacement

Postby Vamp » Sun Mar 13, 2011 10:41 am

Ok so I am new to doing work on airsoft rifles but I broke the outer barrel on my KWA M4A1 and have a replacement barrel being shipped now is there anyone out there that has a video walkthrough or could write a very detailed walkthrough (preferably with pics) on how to remove and replace an outer barrel.

You need to take off the delta ring using a delta ring tool. I am undergoing a similar situation myself in putting on a free float rail system onto a KM4. The delta ring secures the outer barrel to the body of the rifle. You shouldn't need to remove the triangle sight.

ok i could be completely wrong but I assume that the delta ring is the gear looking ring closest to the upper reciever and if that is the case how due I get the thin metal tube which I assume is a gas tube replica from an actual M4 out of the way so that I can remove the delta ring?

No offense I was kind of hoping for a kind of step by step instruction on how to do it. I tend to be an idiot till I do it myself for the first time.

1. Remove flash hider
2. tap out front sight pins(there might be a tiny screw under the sling mount)

3. slide front sight off the barrel
4. use delta ring wrench to remove the delta ring
5. the barrel should now slide out of the body

The beginning shows how to get the triangle sight off and delta ring. For a KWA, what I did was:
1. Remove rear body pin
2. Remove inner barrel and hopup
3. Re-insert body pin.
4. Unscrew the long part of the outer barrel (not if you have the CQBR)
5. Using small allen wrench or screwdriver, punch out the two triangle sight pins and sling mount pins (this is hard due to the pins being hollow so they push against the edges of the holes they are in, just hammer hard, and KEEP THE HANDGUARDS ON! I bent the ring next to the triangle sight becuase the gun was resting on it while I was pounding away)
6. There is no set screw under the triangle sight, so ignore that part.
7. Remove hanguards, then slide the triangle sight down the barrel, the gas tube is attached to it.
8. Remove delta ring.

Hope this helps!

Thank you both very much and once the new outer barrel and delta ring wrench arrive I will attempt the swap and let you know how it goes.

having trouble getting the delta ring off even with a delta ring tool am I doing something wrong or what can someone send another photo. it is similar to the problem that broke the barrel in the first place the flash hider was on too tight or they locktighted it or something. and before anyone says anything I am not a total retard I took the allen screw out of the flashhider and was turning it counter clockwise. anyways I have tried useing the delta ring tool a half a dozen ways with quite a bit of force and still cant seem to get it off
