DM gun help

Postby ducks4t » Tue Mar 29, 2011 5:51 pm

I am now going to be a designated marksman. I have found 4 guns I like and need some help. Here they are, http://www.airsoftmegastore.com/SRC_GEN ... (fullmetal).htm, http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info ... s_id=27380, http://www.airsoftoutletnw.com/index.ph ... &Itemid=28, or http://www.airsoftoutletnw.com/index.ph ... &Itemid=28. If I upgrade these I will upgrade the sring so they shoot about 400 and put a tight bore barrel. Thank you for the help.

Don't waste money on an Echo1/JG. Save for a G&P. You will have to upgrade the BALLS of a JG to get it nice, and then nobody will respect it (true story bro). Either G&P, KWA, or G&G and DBoys if you must.

FPS does not = strength and power
Get good seal on hop up, cylinder, air nozzle, and a TBB that you spend time to break in. Get it shimmed to perfection to be silent like a ninja, and get good at sneaking around. Don't forget, it will be fine (if not better) shooting at ~350 FPS.

NOTE: The rifle alone will not make you a better DM. Attend training sessions, and learn from the pros. I have seen one of the "Beran's" field a nice DMR, and heard/seen its performance. Once again, marksman, not rifle. Work skills, then rifle.

If you really can't get the extra money for a G&P, at least get a dboys M16.

http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info ... s_id=31317

You will find that metal beats plastic any day of the week, and this dboys model is a good base gun if you'd like to upgrade it to be a DM weapon.

I will probably be bashed for this but m14 all the way. I use a EBR (though a normal m14 with a scope would be faster, lighter, and cheaper) as my primary and my secondary is a sr25. If you want a m4 style SR-25 or SPR.

my two DM style AR rifles are a G&G M16A4 proline and a G&P M16A2 grenadier. in my opinion, any suitably high quality full length (20" barrel) M16 will work so long as it has consistent velocity between shots. 350fps will work, but i usually try for 375-380. once you have your 20" barreled AR shooting consistently at 375 or so (adding a tightbore and new hopup can +/- 20ish fps sometimes) go with parts along these lines (brands are a personal preference of mine, so long as they are well made you can sub whatever)

Starter Base Gun wrote:G&G GR16R4 - $190 (you can start with this and upgrade over time, these are great little guns for the price and the forward assist functions as a spring release, which is quite handy if you are shooting in semiauto a lot)

MadBull 20" Outer Barrel - $52

Bravo Flip-up Front Sight - $35 (this can be subbed out with a standard AR front sight tower for a somewhat lower cost)

UTG M16 Free-float Rail - $89 (this can be subbed out with standard M16 handgrips for a much lower cost)

Accuracy Upgrades wrote:MadBull M4 Ultimate Hopup Unit - $32

MadBull 60 Blue Bucking - $14 (comes as a two pack, so upgrade two guns or sell one to a friend)

Big Out H Nub - $7

MadBull 6.03 509mm Tightbore - $38 (i personally prefer the prometheus or DBC barrels, but the mad bull ones are less expensive and still pretty decent)

Leapers 4.32 Mil-Dot Scope - $38 (id prefer a 4x ACOG replica myself, but this is substantially cheaper. you might have to get a riser to bring it up a little too, but those are like ten bucks)

7.4v 1300mah LiPo - $22 (also have to factor in a charger for this, im not including it)

.30 BBs - $16 (this will be a recurring cost, obviously.

that is the setup i would consider to be a mid level DMR, which should perform to my standards of range and accuracy. keeping in mind that i expect my DM rifles to be able to engage targets at 200-250 feet, and be able to get hits within 5-10 rounds. it also costs almost $500, for which you could get a KWA M16 and drop in a tightbore barrel for similar performance and still have money left over for ammo, optics, and magazines.

you could cut costs substantially by leaving the M4 length barrel on the GR16R4 and just upgrading the inner barrel, hopup, bucking and nub. you will lose some accuracy at the extreme end of your range though, as the barrel is 6" shorter.

TL;DR version: buy a KWA M16 and a tightbore barrel.

i hope some of that made sense, after re-reading it i feel like i was rambling a bit.

Is this a good gun? http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=6097 I would save up this much money, then just buy a scope, a 9.6v battery, and a smart charger. would that be okay? But that is as much as i would put in because I dont get a lot of money.

Ew, JBU RIS? Just go with an M16A1/2/3 platform, add in an SP110 spring to get it right around 400FPS, a madbull tightbore and madbull blue bucking and maybe a new motor (I'd want a fast trigger response but it's perosnal preference). You'll need a magnified optic over anything else, because most regular guys with M4's and M16's will have the same upgrades as you if not better ones so you won't really be a DM without the magnified optic.

ASGI is a crap retailer anyway. They don't actually carry anything useful and they pitch crap to as holy gold and the best friggin gear it the whole world. Its just crap. If you are in Oregon, support Airsoft outlet NW.

BTW Echo1, JG and G&G are the same company. Products are just manufactured in different countries. Don't buy any of them. Save your money for a quality product. Its not *that* much more. You're already spending a buck or a buck and a half on a replica anyway.

you are somewhat correct on the E1/JG part, but G&G is completely different.

No, They are all owned by the same parent company, even if they operate independently as a manufacturer and wholesaler.

Money still inevitably goes to the same place.

Anyway its useless info, has nothing to do with the OP's question other than I would say save money for a higher end product.

who cares where the money goes, they are very different grades of AEG which does have some impact on the posters question. i think there was a mis-communication there, i read your comment as the three being the same level of quality.

also, have you got sources to back that claim up? im genuinely curious.
