DMR's

Postby Steamroller » Tue May 03, 2011 4:02 pm

help me out here, If I was to turn a standard AEG such as a KWA KM16 SR12, what would be a legal way to disable the full auto function? can I just put a very short screw in front of the fire selector blocking the switch from moving into the full-auto spot? I know there is some kind of kit i can get to got in and disable it but it's like $100. the gun is expensive enough and i don't want to spend any more money than I have to.

All help is both welcomed and thanked!

There are a lot of things you can do. You can block the switch, as you mentioned, but that involves modding the body.

You can also make a cut on the selector plate so that it does not engage the cutoff lever, making the rifle semi-auto in either fire selector position.

A MOSFET can be used, but they're going to be more expensive than the above options.

Why not just get your SR12 really consistent, accurate, and deadly at ~395FPS and then have the option of going auto if you need to?

this. Upgrading accuracy, range, and consistency is much more important then FPS

but to answer your question, i'm assuming super gluing a small block of wood blocking the full auto function would work

won't for FPS carry the bb farther and give me more range?

Jewish Ninja did some kind of zip tie thing to his SR-25 to disable the full-auto.

I can't answer that directly but i can tell you this: If you had a stock m16 shooting 450 fps and i had a m16 shooting 380 with a tight bore, upgraded cylinder, nozzle, piston, piston head, and hop up i can guarantee it would shoot further and more accurately

Cut your tappet plate, upgrade your hop up and inner barrel, then replace your cylinder with a full capacity one. Did this exact thing with another gun and it went right from 400 to 450. I have a KWA SR 12 and I know they have the same port in the cylinder. Hop up is kinda funny tho. Metal nubs like the Polar Star concave spacer and some buckings don't seem to fit.

That is absolutely true. I was thinking about building a DMR earlier this year, but just a long AEG such as an M16, M14, or AK can fill that role relatively well while staying under the 400 fps mark in case you need to assault a position, or the game you're attending doesn't allow DMR's.

Good luck posting a worthwhile reply to his question.

Or you could get all of the aforementioned upgrades, along with the FPS boost, and have yet even more range depending on your BB...

With a 2GX gearbox, beside a stiffer spring and a nice long tightbore, what else would you need?

Notice how I said aforementioned. But, if it was me personally I'd change the nozzle, cylinder head, piston head, and motor as far as gearbox parts. I'd change the barrel and bucking and do a number of DIY mods to the barrel/hopup assembly...

I think it's because they're lazy and want to just stand back lobbing bb's at people without moving/running, sadly.

Hey! Thats bull and i take offense to that. No sarcasm. I have run cross country and track for the past 4 years in highschool. I know how to run far and do it well.

DMRs are:

A) more practical because of range and speed(in an outdoor setting)
B) more satisfying to get a kill with
C) it's more impressive to shoot one bb than shooting 1 whole mag down range with a lipo.

If you still want to argue that DMR's dont move fine. That makes about as much sense as saying lipo users dont aim.... (/end rant)
