95% of all gearbox aftermarket parts are compatible with G&Gs.

I usually say “every gun is lipo ready” but I must say I am not too impressed with G&G gear seats. Their Motors aren’t too “punchy” and have low speed and torque for such a high end gun. 18AWG is standard G&G wire; it would be nice to see a bigger gauge of wire used such as 16AWG or 14AWG because they can handle the amperage load of Lipos better. I’ve owned two G&G UMPs and have worked on more than a half-a-dozen G&Gs including their blowback series. Both of my G&G gear sets went belly up within about 50,000 rounds or so and about half of all G&G’s that come to me have stripped gears. On the other hand my best friend has only seen a few G&G gear sets fail, maybe all the bad sets come to me? I don't know, but from what I've seen I don't like G&G gears.
Here are two of the latest cases;
G&G non-blowback M4, This guy came in telling me the pinion gear is stripped come to find out 1/3 of the spur gear was completely stripped! He bought this gun about 2 years ago it has been used almost everyone other weekend and has only been using NiMh batteries!
This next case is from a G&G Blow-back series; guy came in and asked for a simple MOSFET installation. When I opened the gearbox to install new wiring I found two teeth on sector gear and one tooth on the spur gear stripped off. IIRC this guy has had the gun for a little more than a year and just recently used 11.1v lipos.
I would replace the barrel with a tightbore, as according to my findings their inner diameter is 6.14!
Now this isn’t to say I hate G&G’s, I just don’t like their gear sets, their motors seem “weak” compared to many others and their barrels could be tighter. Their Hop-up buckings (namely their green ones) are always on my top list due to their good accuracy and great FPS. G&G air seal is amongst best in class compared to CA and ICS. G&G pistons are always a favorite of mine (AOE needs to be corrected out of the box, but that’s very common.) especially their piston heads, I don’t know but maybe it’s the cool
“vortex” looking piston heads they have but I’ve never seen nor heard of any G&G piston heads breaking. I’m still using a G&G piston head I got 3 years ago in my JG G36k shooting 380 FPS at 25 RPS, that thing’s been through easily 400,000 rounds! One thing I always give props to G&G for is their ball bearings they use in their piston head, they aren’t super tight like most other brands their nice and loose because after all what’s the point of ball bearings if the balls can’t move! The screw feels tight enough to not fail.
What’s interesting about G&G’s gearboxs is the screws are on the left side instead of the right side of gearbox like 99% of all other brands and their use of “brass” or supposedly brass bushings. The newer models seem to come with ball bears instead of bushings now (*source needed). I’ve seen no reports of problems with the brass bushings and as for the screw placement I just find it annoying. Pictures;
Please note: This G&G gearbox’s cylinder and screws are NOT stock. ALL G&G gearbox screws use Allen keys instead of Phillips. This is just to show the placement of the screws.

There's a difference between a person who has a screwdriver and a person who knows what they are doing.
