Yes. It's what comes into contact with which I believe to be the ''bevel'' gear (correct me if i'm wrong) but anyways, if it's not adjusted right the gearbox isn't going to perform too well and possibly break something.

I have two 6.01mm tightbore barrels, I clean my barrels maybe every two months. I've never had a jam due to dirt in the barrel.

Could someone please explain why further along the wires there is a small type tamiya connections? That is unnecessary. And why is there tamiya connectors in the first place? They are one of the worst connectors. I am changing the connectors to traxxas (same as my rc's connectors) and I am removing the mi tamiyas and I might as well rewire the whole thing to 12ga wiring.

Yea it would be a good idea to take out those small connectors (they were such a bottle neck on my MP5 that a fully charged battery wouldn't work from the large connector until I removed the small tamiya link). Replacing all the wiring would be even better.

The reason for two connectors is it helps with dissembling the gun, Much easier to plug two connectors together that trying to feed wires through the stock over and over.

The reason for Tamyia connectors is their cheap to mass produce and install, I agree they're not that greatest either and that is why All but a few AEG I own are Dean connectors, the rest are XT60s. that later of which are now becoming the standard connector Lipos batteries come with. Traxxas connectors tend to be too big of a connector on some guns that have a very small battery space.

I wouldn’t recommend 12ga wire as it may not fit in the gearbox; yes you feed the wires through the gearbox on version 2 gearbox, I recommend 16ga wire.

You could always dremel them out if you were careful...

No, no, no... The wires inside the gearbox are feed underneather the pinion gear, any wires bigger than 14AWG will be destroyed by the gear.
