Intellect brand battery failures.

Postby DJ » Sun Jun 19, 2011 4:01 pm

I just had my 3rd intellect brand battery fail prematurely. Has anyone else had issues with this brand of battery. (8.4 mini charged with smart charger)

Hmmm...sounds strange. I've owned three intellects (9.6, 1400-2100 mAh) and never had an issue, save for through my own stupidity.* You might want to check with the place from where you bought them. Maybe they got a bad batch or summat.

*Yeah, tip of the day: Don't pinch a battery wire between the clamshell M4 handguards, doesn't work out well.
"Why do you need a GUN?!"
"To poke holes in things too far away to get with the stick."

Yea I've had a few die pretty quickly. Within a year or so they would stop holding a charge (and I'm usually very careful when charging batteries).

I don't buy 'em anymore.

I've used quite a few intellects with no problems.
The only batteries I've had problems with are the unlabeled ones that come with guns.

How can you fail prematurely? Does Intellect say they have a 4 year span before failure? It's like saying someone died prematurely. No, they didn't. They died when they were suppose to die (be it gods will, allah's plan, buddah's fart, or Obama's change policy).

I would suggest going to ELITE brand cells. No issue with them in the 5 years I've used them. Every once in a while I hear bad things about Intellect, but I have yet to hear anything negative about Elite.

Jester, basically 2 uses and failure. I have had this happen with 2 9.6 stick batteries and now this 8.4 mini. All of the other brands I have used have served me well, over 3 years ea.

Sounds like it's time to avoid Intellect... I'm a little surprised you kept going after 2 previous failures.

The 2 sticks were from Precision in a bulk order. They stood behind them and sent me new stuff right away ( with an apology). The mini , I cannot remember where I got it. It is a 1600 mah and that is probably why I bought it. It does seem a bit funky to loose 3 of the same brand?

DJ- I have quite a few Intellect batteries fail. After a few uses, they just wouldn't hold charge. All 8.4v and 9.6v nimh. I use Tenergy batts now and have never had an issue with them.

Thats what was happening to mine. Sounds like Intellect has some quality control issues. I guess its not just me . No more Intellects for me.

These are the best battery cells I've used. I got a 9.5 1500mah pack with them 4 years ago, and it still runs beautifully.

Hey all, thanks for the input. I was mostly interested to see if my intellect batteries were an anomaly. Guess not.

One time I ordered a couple of Intellect 9.6v nunchuck batteries and they were DOA. Wouldn't charge. Sent 'em back, got new ones (same brand), haven't had a problem since.
