M14 scopes

Postby kapow887 » Thu Jul 14, 2011 7:40 pm

Do you guys have any recommendations for a good m14 scope? Something under $50 is my budget. I already have a G&P scope mount.

I am not looking to use this gun as a DMR, more as a long range assault weapon

Long range assault weapon? Get an Aimpoint T-1. Magnified optics are for making precise shots (which a "long range assault weapon" won't be doing).

Sorry for poor choice of words. I'm sure you know what I mean. An I'm also sure that you know it's not that unheard of to put a scope on an m14

Aimpoint Comp M2 would work too

I know... I had one... I'd much rather use a red dot sight for something that won't be used for precision shots. It's much quicker (and in airsoft just as accurate out of anything less then a highly tuned bolt).

Your absolutely right, a red dot would probably allow me to be just as accurate, but the reason I have been considering a low magnification scope
Is because of the zoom feature. Scopes often help me find targets and identify them much easier. Sort of like having a pair of binoculars with you.

+1, I use scopes in the same way. At Summer Slaughter I was that guy with a scoped shotgun. Made it a lot easier to distiguish teams.

Hint to target ID: Generally, if they are facing you, they are hostile... If their back is to you, they are either friends, or running away...

+1 beside using scope is a poor way to ID enemies with unless its a sniper rifle or dmr rifle.

My m16 is upgraded to the point that the bb's go so far they seem to disappear unless i have a magnified optic. an adjustable, 1-4x scope will do you good. although i have been able to do well with a red dot on the same rifle. plus a red dot will be cheaper in most situations
What i'm trying to get across is don't be afraid to get some magnification on your AEG but red dot's (and iron sights) won't really let you down

Not at all.

With dead people, people moving back from objectives, sneaky squads, etc. you can't rely on this.

I think his use of a scope is perfect, and you're still trying to be right. :)
