Battle Rifle?

Postby icebullet » Thu Jul 21, 2011 5:24 pm

Okay, I've searched, and I can't find anything.

I am looking at the possibility of a 7.62 style rifle. Before I continue, this will NOT be a DMR. It's only for the look of the magazine.

I was flipping through an old Classic army catalog and saw something called a "URX Special Forces". Seems to be a good looking gun.

Any thoughts on alternative guns or the model I've outlined?

An AK?
Real Steel fires: 7.62x39mm
Not a DMR.

But you want an M4 style...
SR25?
SCAR-H?

Just FYI, finding midcap mags for an airsoft 7.62 AR is going to be a major PITA. If you can find any in stock, they will probably be $$$.

I had a CA URX, and it wasn't anything to write home about.

I'm thinking I'm better of with a m14 EBR SBR.

The Pmag 20LR are a great choice for any AR-10/ SR-25 patterned weapon.

Have you considered a G3?

The CA FN FAL is awesome for the carbine length (steer clear of the King Arms FAL, it's a pile of steaming shit), while the G3 from CA and TM are both pretty good.

If you do go with an M14 and get a marui or a marui clone, mag (the brand) has a box set of four 150rnd mids for 75-80$. Good quality too

actually they dont fit in all SR25 pattern guns. the CA and G&G have slightly different feed port locations if memory serves. i cant remember which one of the two the PMAGs fit in though.

I know there is one where the feed port is in the middle of the gun, but I know its not the CA. I thought the G&G was normal as well, and maybe the STAR is in the middle?

The MAGPUL PTS 20LR Pmags do not fit in the CA25. They are slightly too large to slide into the CA magwell. They do fit the G&G and A&K models from what I've seen.

All 3 of the above use the same style of mag, though dimensions will vary minutely. The Ares/Star SR25 model uses a different magazine, since they're using the standard V2 gearbox and M4 hop-up.

Thanks for the links Switchback.

I am looking at the GandG m14 EBR, seeing as I had the choice to get an iPod touch, or put the money into a really nice rifle.

EBR FTW

Just a friendly warning, have you held the EBR? You might want to go for the SOCOM 16 if you like short M14s, as the EBR is ridiculously heavy for its size. Not saying that you can't use a heavy gun, just make sure you know what you're getting into.
