Electrical issue...Again <3

Postby Minerva » Tue Jul 26, 2011 2:49 pm

So since my ARES M4A1 didn't sell when I posted her up, I decided to delve into her and try and see why the damn thing stopped firing

Problem: Gun not firing
What happened before malfunction: Dropped in 11.1v LiPo and G&P M120 xD

Just stopped. No sounds it just died after sounding like it was an M134 o.O

Any idears?

There are a lot of things it could be. If it's making no noise at all, not even a motor click, you could have burned a fuse or your wires.

If you end up getting tied up on it, I'd be glad to help you figure out what it is.

Being that you swapped the motor, the connects could have become loose and with the high rate one may have fallen off.

The first and easiest thing to check.

That is what I was going to say. If it makes no noise at all check the motor connectors and fuse. Also make sure your wires are still connected to the gear box, this can be a common problem for guns that are wired to the rear, because they have two plugs one next to the gearbox and one that the battery plugs into.

I agree with everyone else above me.

If it’s none of the above comments, your trigger contacts maybe fried. Using a 11.1v lipo does send more amperage load through the trigger contacts and wires and, although there is a small chance of this actually happening, But I have seen it happen, It is possible depending on the circumstances with an 11.1v lipo and a G&P m120 high speed a wire may have burned.

If it is this, either solder them on or crimp the connector heads and slide them on tight.

Normally, I would agree with you.. but i a while back after opening the thing up the trigger mechanism stumped me. Ares uses some weird electrical trigger..

I'll check the motor connections as soon as I get up in the morning

Definitely not the motor connectors. Even switched them out for some shiny gold ones.. Any other ideas?

does the motor even run when you hook it up directly to the battery?ares origional M4 motors are high torque ones, lipos and high speed motors don't like each other very much especially when the original gear box is using a high toque one

Yes! good idea. Also if you know how, check the continuity on the gun with the motor connected using a multimeter.

You can also use the meter to check to see if the switch is working properly.

Can't figure out this damned trigger assembly. Now I'm kind of regretting buying the damn thing lmao.. Proprietary sucks.

Got it. Frayed wire causing problems. Fired it a few times and the front of the gearbox snapped. *sigh*.. Good riddance. V2's are not my forte.
