AEG noise reduction

Hey everyone,

I played at a skrim over the weekend and noticed many of the weapons were making a quiet "thew" rather than a more aggressive "thud." Does anyone have tips on reducing the noise from an AEG? Of these, which is the most effective at doing so?

I'm interested in reducing the noise of a stock ICS MP5A4..

get a silent piston head, cylinder head, and re-shim your gear box

foam fill suppressors also help, if you can find them. a lot of people don't like to risk that though, because the ATF may consider it a real suppressor if they want to.

Silent piston and cylinder heads don't do anything, don't waste your money. I have a set in my VFC M16 and it makes no difference.

Properly lubricating your gears can quiet them down a lot.

And +1 for avoiding "silencing" piston heads ect, they don't work.

The ATF has the tendency to think a bike peg is a silencer.

Wrap your rifle in pillows. It also makes it considerably comfier to sleep on.

its probably because you didn't get the right brand, you could also throw in a high torque gears and a weak spring if you are really desperate to make it quiet

No. They just don't work.

Most don't actually work, they change the sound but some times make it louder with a different pitch.

My friend has an CA Mp5 and the thing is just loud. Its all in the body it seems.
The more you take apart a mp5 the more the body separates from the gearbox so i thought lining the space with something might help but have never tried it.
Also the sides of the body are thinner than a lot of other guns bodies so that might not absorb much sound.
Lesser spring probably the easiest way, but opening it might open up some space in the body.

SORBO SORBO SORBO. No really. Install sorbothane onto your cylinder head. Makes a HUGE difference.
