Home mods (noob)

Postby B.O.P. Hawk » Tue Aug 02, 2011 11:26 pm

I have been having trouble with the compression in my AEG lately, and I was wondering if there was any sort of home mods that could help me out.

I was reading up on some old threads that include this topic, but was unable to find an exact list of mods that can be done with common things like Teflon tape or foam.

So, what all can I do to my gun with that sort of thing in mind? (not just compression mods, but also things like noise reduction.)

Depends on what gun you have.

Those two links cover pretty much everything.

I did most of the mods shown in the first link, they work.

You could shim the hop up arm with gearbox shims, wrap the junction between the hop up unit and the barrel, and get a better air nozzle.

What in the world is a plunger?
And of which seal do you speak? I can think of three.

So, I got rid of the original compression problem, the nozzle not touching hop unit, but right now I am filling in the gap with a cut piece of mouse pad. Is there something else that I can stick to the end of my nozzle instead?

This works fine, but I am concerned about it not holding up in a skirmish.

Also, every twenty shots or less it shoots three or four BBs at the same time. Any Idea why it would do that, and how to fix it? (I was thinking that the nub is not pushing down far enough, so BBs are making it past the hop up.)

bbs shouldn't slip past even if the nub is all the way up. Maybe the air nozzle is getting stuck on your mousepad spacer thingy?

Either the magazines or...a two-piece hop-up?

The improved spacer is connected to the nozzle; I've never had a problem with the mags before, but they could be feeding in bursts from something blocking it, so the BBs could be carrying more inertia than normal; the hop-up is two pieces, but it's g36, so the second piece is the adjustment spool.
