I'm going to steal this and use it in the future. Most sarcastic thing I've heard in quite a while from a teenager. Well done.

 I would encourage any of you who has access to do so, to go spend a shift in a dispatch center. Some of the most bizarre calls come in. Some are beyond belief. Truly police /fire dispatchers are the unsung heroes of public safety.

I was on campus when that happened. People can't legally carry guns on campus, or at least can't do so without risk of trespassing charges or legal action, and the response to these two OBVIOUS boys is to lock us in room covered in windows with a speaker telling us to stay out of sight and do what, wait for a real bad guy to come in and shoot us? Yeah that worked GREAT for Virginia tech.

I'm currently writing a letter to administration their response to this type of incident is 100% absolutely wrong.

...You must be new here. That is in no way the issue. The issue is two-fold. 1) the parents never taught the kids that they need to be responsible with firearms and firearm-lookalikes (or the kids just ignored them). 2) the media needs to learn how to not make a big deal out of nothing.

I don't think it's the kids or the parents that are the issue here. It's the response of the school and whomever called this in. We're so scared of not reacting correctly that we immediately over react.

That this locked down a school and that the news reported on it is the saddest thing I've seen.

Ironic statement coming from a 15 year old airsofter...
Hahaha, and this amazes me, I know I'm only 14 and my brain is not fully formed but these kids didn't get the memo. I mean its common sense for older kids but they probably did not know I mean they are 10 or younger, gosh, why not ban Star Wars lightsabers and toy laser guns? I think the person who called this in was far enough away not to see how old these kids were

The parents should teach gun safety or whatever so they know not to do this.

Or people can use enough common sense to realize that a father and son wouldn't invade the country with a M60 ;) . Sometimes I think all the idiots down here in California are moving north..

Hey man, that skinny ten year old could totally haul a 23 pound M60 around.

My favorite from my dispatch sit in for my EMT certs was someone called to say there may be sheep on the road on Hwy 34. But there was a fence, and the person couldn't tell what side they were on. And they didn't stop. But they wanted to let the cops know that there may be sheep either on the road side, or the farm side of a fence. In a known farm area...

That and the 4 year old whose parents gave him a "deactivated" cell phone. Did you know that even though you change your plan to a different phone, a phone can still call 911? I didn't. And neither did the parents when the cops knocked on the door.

I always have to wonder if people who report these things ever hear an electric sewing machine sound, and think nothing of it... I mean, come on, two kids shooting at each other with guns probably means they are toys (EDIT: Ok, airsoft guns, because they can hurt people).

Although I'm definitely not condoning what they did, because it was really stupid. Just saying some people need to work on their observation skills.

FAIL!!!!!!
And it's not just little kids being dumb here a certian 19 year old team leader thought it was a good idea to have our team gather at a high school.
Even though it was a Sunday still dumb idea. And I'm dumber for believing he actually "cleared it" with authorites first.

Yeah, any phone that has a sim card or even ones that don't require sim cards(like most verizon phones)and have no service can still call 911. Also I believe most phones, if you have no service for your particular company and another does, they will be able to call 911 using the service available.
