What is this.. (AK Question)

Postby Minerva » Wed Aug 17, 2011 7:25 pm

Would like to purchase a gun tonight. Was looking into the RK02.

http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info ... s_id=30129

It says CYMA/Kalash... WHICH ONE???!?!??

If anyone can persuade me out of this, please give me reasons :)

I would like a steel AK for around $150-170ish

Sidenote: The 74's take AK47 mags and such right?[/code]

I can't help you on the brand (probably a CYMA) but yes I believe the 74's and 47's have magazine interchangeably

Yea i was under the impression that CYMA's have pot metal bodies while Dboy's have stamped steel

Go with Dboys.

I would also vouch for a Dboys over a CYMA (although, the newer CYMA Aks are still really nice).

CYMA's new AKs are stamped steel, however I've found that a lot of sites do a poor job of telling you if they are the old or new gen. That could be an older gen CYMA which were made of potmetal, but the newer ones are made of steel.

In all honestly I would call Evike and ask, if you wanted to be 100% sure.

I hesitate saying gtfo because you are oviously trying to be helpful, but seriously, you don't know what you are talking about.

The Cyma I got about 2 years ago had a steel body. It was a pretty awesome little gun. Best AK per dollar. Also worked great with nearly every mag.

Mod edit, Catch22: Don't give advice, if you don't know what you are talking about.

I had a post here, but it managed to vanish.

RK02 is a Dboys gun. they say "Cyma/Kalash" because the store selling it doesnt want you to think that one is better than the other.
the one you have a link to, I have borrowed once and it worked great. the Cyma & ICS mags I have dont go into that model, but the ones that are meant for it work great.
yes, if its within the same company, 74 and 47 style magazines are interchangeable... but it looks more correct to have the right mag in the weapon. though with the RK02, you can put a 47 mag in it and call it an AK103.

Maybe your post was deleted because it was full of "maybe" and "not sure". Check the rules.. Only give advice on things you're knowledgable and sure of.

On a side note: Noobs giving advice to newbs, about things they have no experience with, gets old.

CYMA has no full steel guns. They have half steel half pot metal AK. Most CYMAs are TM design except for their newer line of guns are VFC design (VFC design is superior to the TM design). VFC clone CYMAs have laminated wood. Dboys Gen 2 AK have half steel half pot metal guns very similar to the newer CYMAs, but with basic real wood. The newest Dboys Gen 3 AK are full steel and have laminated wood. Both Gen 2 and Gen 3 Dboys are VFC design.
