"Airsoft" in Craigslist posting violates terms of service?

Postby Phoenixcompany » Mon Aug 22, 2011 12:51 am

So I tried to list an event and some gear on CL and when I hit continue I got this:

This posting is being blocked

The following term(s) cannot be used: "Airsoft"

Many other possible reasons for blocking are listed in the Conduct section of our Terms of Use. [?]

If you have reviewed our Terms of Use and believe you have not violated them, please file a report and we will review this block for possible removal.

Craigslist readers strongly prefer not to see the same posting listed multiple times.

Please help us out by not overposting your listing.

Is this a backlash of the SB 798 crap? Has anyone else had this issue?

The only explanation I can think of is the SB in California and CL being afraid of being sued for allowing "illegal" airsoft guns to be sold on their site. I will send an email and see if I get a response.

Speaking of SB 798...watching Sons of Guns last night and the are making all kinds of really need guns in...wait for it...bright colors! Ak's and Saiga shotguns in Blue, Red and Purple!

Interesting...

Looks like some people are getting by it by posting "Air-Soft", but that probably won't last long.

Guns don't kill people, airsoft ones do =p.
I think that CL. has been doing that for some time haven't they, you usually had to post something like "This is a toy gun, not a real firearm.", but I could be wrong. I know you have to post that phrase tho is selling a airsoft gun.

If it passes I think there is enough opposition for it to be taken to a higher court..

It has little to do with SB 798. Craigslist has always been against all guns and replica guns. I've had many of my postings about events or items for sale flagged by users.

You'd have better luck being a prostitute. You can sell sex on Craigslist, but not guns. Guns are bad, mkay?

sounds to me like the issue I run into all the time:
I can kill you
I can cut you
I can shoot you
I can impale you
I can make you bleed
I can torture you
I can get you pregnant
I can make porn with you

but the second I call you a meanie, a phony pony, a piece of shit or a whore everyone gets mad and tells me its bad and wrong. To california, as well as craigslist, guns are a swearword. why do you think they refuse to allow a 30 round mag come around? why do you think a CWP can't be used there? cali=cute kitty. yes, i said it.

Why not just forget about Craigslist to sell your gear. It is just as easy to use all the local forums that have classifieds to sell your gear. Using the forums also helps insure that your gear will go to someone that will use the gear in a responsible way.

example:

M4a1 Style Replica, fires 6mm bbs

anyone on craigslist looking to buy an airsoft gun should know that an airsoft gun fires 6mm

Odd, I sold my old china-made IBA over Craigslist just recently. The exact wording of the listing was:

"MARPAT vest and holster - $55 (Whidbey)

I have one 600D Nylon MARPAT Interceptor Body Armor (IBA) replica and one 600D Nylon MARPAT dropleg holster with three built-in pistol mag pouches. MOLLE vest can be customized by putting pouches anywhere you want them. Includes 4 double M4 mag pouches, large utility pouch, admin pouch, 2 grenade pouches, collar attachment, and groin protector. Also includes spare metal buckles. Does not include armor inserts. All items shown in pictures are included. Used. Selling for $55 OBO. Great for airsoft or paintball! Dampens force of airsoft and paintball rounds. Say goodbye to welts and bruises! Paypal is an option (buyer pays shipping cost), prefer face-to-face. Willing to travel as far as Bellingham or Tacoma in order to meet face-to-face."

It sold for the full asking price within a week. Maybe the Skagit/Island County CL is more lax than in other areas?
